Reviews for "Agony: The Portal"

Good but

When you pay for things on a game that is a FLASH you cant charge money think about that, you pass with a 4 because of the repetitiveness and the payment.

hmmm...

Nothing I can say has not already been said, but I will briefly recap:

Mediocre graphics
Poor soundtrack
Useless skill sets that seem excessively like filler
and repetitive to the point of boredom

I see both sides of the "donations" business. I must, however, agree with the "don't do this," camp. You have successfully irritated those people that you have just previously stated you rely upon for ad revenue. Thereafter, you tried to incorporate a donation system into a generally run of the mill game. I do not write stories, removing contextual paragraphs, but let the reader know that they can read those paragraphs if they are willing to do surveys or give me money. This is especially not the case if my stories are prone to redundancies and plot holes.

People would simply stop reading my work.

Lastly, I must mention a particular pet peeve of mine concerning game exposition. If something is "long forgotten," or "beyond rememberance," or "lost to the annals of time," then how is it that we know about it and are given the luxury of playing out our character's ambitions?

I appreciate flash makers. You provide me with 'time killers' and sometimes, genuine fun. You will not convince me that I came to a free to play website so that I might pay someone money, unless you place before me a shining gem of gaming glory.

Best of luck and good fortune to you.

yeah real money for ingame items= not so great

would have been much better if all the good items didnt cost real money. the whole micro transaction thing doesnt work for this kind of game ya would be better off selling downloadable copys for two or three dollars each with extra features or extra levels or something.

rpg my ear

This is a hack and slash game! I quit after four or five levels, because it was the same background and the same monsters for those five levels, there is no powerups and even after have leveled up 4 times I didn't feel like I was getting stronger and the fireball spell was weak even at level four...

The 'pay for real' shop is an ok feature, but only if there is an in-game alternative and here you only get one item per level, and it does not feel like it is makeing that much of a difference...

In conclusion... This is one extra game we could do without

Lazy, sloppy, RPG

This is one of the most poorly put together games I have seen in a long time, it amazes me that it even made the front page. As soon as the game loads up you witness the confusing and dull menus, with some duplicate icons representing two completely different menus.

Once you enter the game you are given two nice walls of text, honestly I can't comment on that because it was too much too care for. Then, you see a brief cutscene consisting of basically the one enemy you fight for the first half hour of the game open a box with you locked inside, and you are then set free to THE ENDLESS DESERT. The background never changes, whether you choose to fight in a village or a forest, its always the blank desert with the same one enemy model. Speaking of models, your own model is so terribly lazily put together, the artist clearly didn't give you legs because he didn't want to animate walking! Even the enemy(s) barely has legs.

Now, you finish a level (by standing still and repeatedly pushing U or Space) and are put into a small tutorial on how to level up, equip items, and buy a skeleton helmet with your own US dollars. Wait, what, you want me to PAY...money...to get extra items? Oh boy, now that's a real treat. The author of the game states that he couldn't find a sponsor and decided to put in a "donation" system. Well, maybe if the game wasn't so terrible it would have gotten sponsored, hmm?

Now, this game is not the MOST terrible game in the world, its just a work of laziness. There are plenty other problems I left out as well (One audio track, terrible magic, etc.), I dont have enough energy to mention them. I just wanted anyone who thought that this might be a top notch game that there are many better things to be playing. I hope.

OneExtraGames responds:

Well, clearly you've only played for a very SHORT time.
This game does not have only 1 background but 4.
This game does not only have 1 enemy but 16.
There is not only goblins but also wizzards later in the game.
We don't have enough energy to mention all the features here.

What about SERIOUSLY playing a game before rating it?
