Decent
I'm not going to put you down for the 'buying weapons' thing as most people do. Firstly because it's entirely optional and not necessary to enjoy the game, secondly because you get free items anyways and it's not as if you must buy to get anything good.
The game has a great and easy feel for it. It's simple and easy to grasp. Lighten up a little on the pointy arrows and tutorials all throughout the game. I mean, everytime I got a new combo the screen would pop up again. I know how the combos work by the time I've used the first one so you can loosen up on that. And the pointy arrows are quite distracting actually. People who've played RPG games will surely know what to do with their skills and stats once they see a 'level up' screen.
The combat system was good, but a little sketchy in some places. The hitting and blocking was way too inconvenient so I decided to just accept damage and hack away. Which worked. I suggest allowing players to move very slowly while blocking to sort of herd enemies together. Otherwise the blocking becomes totally unnecessary once the enemies start to mob you in huge numbers.
Also I think you need an upgrade for attack speed. Maybe put that under finesse or something, but I just felt that the attacks were way too slow.
The big thing with this was that I felt a lot of the things that were added to the game became more of a distraction than being actually useful. I ended playing this by merely hacking my way through all the levels, hardly relying on any spells at all or any combos. The spells and combos are just too specific in their application. Like jump attacks and fireballs - they only hit one small spot and at a distance. So the moment an enemy moves, it's totally useless. So it became yet another 'extra' that was unnecessary.
I do applaud you for putting a lot into this game, but it somehow didn't feel like every aspect held together. It felt a bit more like bits just piled on top of each other.
It's a good game. Just needs some sorting out.
