Reviews for "Raider: Episode 1"

alright game

Not the best platformer, but a great play if this is your style.

Looking forward to the next one!

I enjoyed the game thoroughly, I thought the jumping/ladder puzzles were well done for the most part. The only one that stuck out to me as annoying was the first jump between two platforms in 1_16. I thought the timing needed was a tad too exact for the "Intermediate" player (which I like to consider myself)

The main issue I had with the game was that the main level, while fun and entertaining, doesn't prepare the player in the slightest for the boss battle. There is basically no difficulty curve. I was able to reach the boss on Intermediate with six lives and full health, and died completely. Afterwards, I was able to reach and defeat the boss on Beginner without losing a single life. I think that the difficulty needs adjusting or that the game needs to better prepare the player for the boss fight somehow.

In any case, I did enjoy this game for the most part, and am looking forward to bigger and better things in the future.

Great game but...

I dont know if this is a part of the game but I couldnt get to another level. I tried all difficulties beat them all and I cant manage to surpass to the next stage/level. I went back to the ship to see if I had to hop back in and I couldnt.

I does say episode one so I cn only assume you get 1 level out of 1 episode so I GUESS that could make sense.

Other then that the game was fun, I liked playing it. Nice touche to the little dino when he breathes and he moves up and down a little bit. I found it a bit strange when I went to go give the game a score of 5 it gve it a positive number of (+0.00034) when it was at 4.20 but then it went down to 4.19 even though it was adding.

Good enjoyable game, nice job with the color design. Its good old classic.

10/10

Awesome!

This is an awesome game, and I think you have fully achieved the goal of recreating a *difficult* and fun NES-like platformer. I feel this game succeeds in all areas: gameplay, graphics, sound, story, and replay value. Platforming is my favorite genre, and I generally don't feel challenged by the games of today. But this was an exception.

Although the controls are good (and modifiable, of course), I honestly wish I could plug in a controller/gamepad to play this, because I had some trouble with the boss while using a keyboard. XD Got him down to about 20% on Intermediate. I had a hard time when he changed phases, like some other players did. Perhaps after some practice, I'll be able to pull it off. While the boss was more difficult than I would like (memorization-wise), I have no complaints. I feel like I could probably do the level part on Expert, but I doubt I could beat the boss without a *lot* of practice. :)

I really like the main character, and I'm really interested in the rest of the story. Thank you for making such a wonderful game. Can't wait for the rest!!

Respect!

I agree with some points people are making, but I understand what you wanted to achieve and I must say you did it very well. That kind of game, like megaman, were always hard and this game is just as hard, I was a bit annoyed by your attitude toward the negative comments but at the same time, you're totally right on most points, nowadays games are all made to be easy and offer no challenge to the lazy gamers of today (like me) who hate dying in a game or restart the challenges over and over. That's why I can't finish your game but I played enough to be able to compliment you on it, everything's great about it. Only one thing "bothered" me is not being able to get off the ladder when you're down to the ground, but that's so minor that it doesn't take anything away from the game, might be a design choice, but a bad one in my opinion. Great job! 10/10 5/5
