Reviews for "Abyssal"

F'd, totally F'd

That was ridiculously awesome. It was so creepy and disturbing I loved it. I knew something was up when the bed kinda glided towards him, it was too good to be true lol. Nice stuff, freaky as hell and totally enjoyed. Oh, and the sound effects were amazing, what with the baby crying and such, and the artwork was immaculate for the weird things you drew. Very nicely done.

Unnerving

Now this you don't see very often. A creepy, well-animated, thought out, atmospheric cartoon. Sure, there's no plot, but that would ruin it. I liked how you promoted your own site instead of some big-ass site that has 14 times as much cash as NG. And those were some really imaginitive monsters you made for this, and they remind me of the Ghostbusters cartoons, only much more unnerving.

What I liked:
-Creepy in the right ways
-Truly Imaginitive creature designs
-Excellent sound
-Proper mix of Hand animation and tweens

What I don't like:
-No Replay button

Conclusion: Bogleech this is your best cartoon so far, so how's about that ten out of ten?

Scythemantis responds:

Thanks! I'm always conscious of using a lot of tweens but the sorts of animals that inspired this do nothing but drift in place themselves, letting prey come to them or just waving their lures.

Ghostbusters was definitely a big influence on my style in general, it was THE thing I was into as a kid and pretty much solely for those goofy yet totally warped ghosts :)

"A place like hell..."

Man quite scary, even though it was a movie!
Great monster design, and very good use of sound effects, I turned on the lights as soon as i saw the second "being".

If there would be a hell, you have designed it! (meant positively)

Wow

Yeah, wow is all I can really say. I think I see some Lovecraftian influence in there, the whole dream cycle bit as well as maybe some of his Old Gods. Also it looks like the end credits of Extreme Ghostbusters was at least a partial influence, but I could be completely wrong there. Either way, Abyssal was much, much creepier than the latter influence. The animation was flawless, especially the eye-twitches, and the audio was a very nice touch. I turned my speakers all the way up at the beginning only to very nearly shit my pants at that first ethereal shriek. Fantastic work here.

OMG
