Reviews for "Dodgeman 2!"

surprisingly good

I'll be honest and say that my first thought about the game was something along the lines "this got awesome score? i see this kind game 10 times a day" but I'm glad I didn't quit right there. The game was actually pretty fun to play. While the dodging of falling objects has been done million times (by million noobs :P) this version had something to it that kept me playing. I think it had a lot to do with the graphics/sounds and overall atmosphere. So good job with that.

I didn't like about the unforgiving collision detecting. It irritated me a bit in the eagle level.
I also found the space shuttle level a bit hard due to the small space to move. Sometimes there was no way to avoid a hit.
And I didn't like getting hit after the object had passed me and me feet touched it. I think it would be much better if you hit test only the head area.

Thanks for the review! It's really good to see so many people enjoying my game. :)

I hear everyone's comments about the unforgiving collision and will look at changing it in sequels; adding a little bit of what I'll call a "forgiveness buffer". In regards to having just the head hittest though, I think that would make the game a bit too easy.

As an explanation, when implementing the collision, my thoughts had been that this is a game about dodging so you gotta dodge everything. Dodgeman is just a little guy, so the smallest of things can damage him ;)

I played this game until I was finished!

Note: I am horrible at writing reviews.

I played this game.

Pros: good graphics, simple game play

Cons: hit detection is unforgiving. countdown timer too long in certain levels.

Fun at first

But gets boring really quick. The co-op mode was kind of nice although I used it to play myself so I could move the enemies also hehe. Not very unique game type but playable. The graphics were ok, walking was kind of akward though. It seemed to take damage very easily although I wasn't actually hitting the enemy. Not bad!

This has a lot of potential.

Right now all the game is, is me moving a dude left and right, which is boring.

The art work is totally cool though, teh music too, and even the silly voicing of stuff like PAUSE and FASTER.

It wouln't hurt to add things like jumping to the game or to even speed up the pace that Dodgeman can move.

Again, if it was more than just moving side to side it would be 1,000X better.

Great start to a can be great game.

6/10

I appreciate the review, but I gotta say - you should play more levels of the game, it gets more interesting as it goes... ;)

Nice graphics and I like the music. One thing I'll say though Holmfry that either the player should have more lives, or the even better idea is that whenever you die you get a checkpoint at the level you died at, but at the beginning of it and you only get one life. I like the music, but it can get quite annoying at sometimes. And the voice does too, but it might just be me. I wish there was more animation for dodgeman, though I do still like the game. That's all I really have to say about it because there's not much of it, but the idea of a back story is amazing, just your's made the game worse. Thank you for the game, Holmfry!

Holmfry responds:

Thanks for the review. Quick note - the game does have a checkpoint at the level you died at, you just have to select Continue and off you go!
