Good core mechanics
Which is granted, given that they are based upon the longest lived, most popular and one of the deepest strategy game ever. What really destroys this otherwise good puzzle game is that the conditions for triggering a move from the white pieces is hard scripted, it completely destroys any fun when you encounter deadlocks like in level 15 where you are completely dependandt on triggering one as you cannot just assassinate the king and win like in normal chess. Becouse of the freedom allowed in moving your piece, whenever a white piece refuses to be provoked it feels like the game insults you for not using the one predetermined solution when there is quite obvious there are others. I can say that honestly liked the idea and this is obviously a good use of chess mechanics for a puzzle game, but the scripted nature of provoked moves made it a drag from level 15 and up when first encounter deadlocks, becouse of this the game drops from beeing excellent to quite bad.
