Reviews for "Fear Unlimited Arena"

its ok

i am not nto the whole playing the same game for like hours on end so there should be an easier mode. i found i could only ever get to the second boss thing. and i HATE "a" key being the jumping that was a horrible decision i believe.

Straying from what made this series great...

The original Fear Unlimited featured responsive controls, immersive RPG elements, and an excellent storyline. That's what made it such a great game. All the game really consisted of was hacking and slashing enemies repeatedly, but it worked because of how fun it was to control Encon and use combos. The storyline was engaging, and it was fun to level Encon up and gain all of those powerups and weapons.

Fear Unlimited 2 Issue 1 was a little flawed. The controls were changed, making it difficult to get used to, and the interface was changed, but it was still a fun game.

And now we`re here, and I don`t know what to tell you. This game simply isn`t as much fun as the original. The old controls are mostly restored, but you`ve turned comboing between the gun and the sword into more work than it`s worth. The health system has again taken a turn for the worse. Why you would go from an accurate numerical system to a health bar and then further downgrade to a smaller health bar is beyond me. Ditto to the Helldrive meter. It might look a bit nicer now, but it just isn`t practical anymore. As a player, I want to know exactly how much HP I have left and exactly how close I am to having Helldrive available. As for upgrades, there is still an upgrade system within this game, but it`s not as good as within the first one.

You need to bring this series back to its roots. It`s not a bad game, it just isn`t as good as the first one. This series had the potential to be one of the best of newgrounds. So far all I`m seeing is a lot of unfulfilled potential. Good luck.

Who doesnt love Sensless Violence?

Well i gotta tell you this is something ive been coming back to a few times, i've currently got 4 blue orbs 2 or 3 of each magic and a level 3 agne and rudra plus a level 5 rebellion (im using the DMC names because i dont remeber yours =P). Ill start with the animation =], im amazed at the amount of detail you put into each demon, ive probably only seen up to the iceicle spider thingy =\, however i recon you should have had more of these on screen at once (after all 3 enemies at once just doesnt feel like any sort of challenge) even thou on some poeple computers it would be pushing it, but then that does say something about the amount of detail =] Sadly it does loose a bit in the fact that as mentioned below everything seems way to jerky as there is no transition between movesets =\ and sure dmc usually didnt seem to have much in the way of transitions it seemed alot more in-control, where-as in this the sword animation tend to be so fast that there were a few times where i actually lost control of the character and ended up doing the Down+Slash attack into a wall twice over as enemies approaced from behind =[. As for gameplay =\ despite the fact that the sword orientated combat is pretty cool i hate to say it but there are too little attacks, sure while the starting enemies can be knocked into the air allowing you to chain amazing combos which can get all the way to max style point ranking, alot of you enemies (that ive seen so far) cant be knocked into the air and in fact one particular type counters being knocked into the air =[, which then limits combat to regular slashes which the enemies in question dont flinch at and the Down + Slash move which is the easiest way to deal with enemies given all it really takes is using that till they are in the corner then Down + Jump to roll away and do it again...this was my tactic. Also the guns couldent be upgraded, meaning at later stages the damage they do is so menial that its pointless using them for anything =[. Other than those minor issues the gameplay is pretty good and i will be coming back to it =]. As for how it can be improved =\, Regardless the amount of effort you have already put into this there were areas which could have kept gameplay fresh rather than having it be continually repetative =\, while you upgrades allow more health, devil trigger, and damage output, a belive some of the upgrades should have included new attacks and what not, that way you could go back the arena with fresh new moves to try, this was always good in DMC1 and DMC3 (considering DMC2 just did damage output over 3 Identical movesets and quite frankly DMC2 was a steaming pile of shit), this way you can avoid the gameplay being repetetive. Also i noticed some bugs =[, for instance at the start there are occasions where you character doesnt appear on-screen and you need to press the jump button to get him there, also i recon damage detection is a little off considering there where occasions where id taken damage from being behind the enemy =\. Other than all that this is a great game and ill definatly play it over time, but as ive found so far i only play it for so long until the repetition overtakes the fact that ive just got more upgrades. I hope to see a number 2 of this =] with much better gameplay, mabye that way the DMC curse for the flash versions can be just with the odd-numbered ones (yeh i didnt like DMC4 that much...i mean Nero? wtf?, and no.2 was...well...no.2).

no offence but

its good but.... its pretty much devil may cry..... like almost exactly the same, pistols are the uzis that fire ice weapon they are all weapons from devil may cry 3.. serously.. google it this is a flash version of that game i think some of the bosses are copied too

Shoot'em and Slash'em

It was pretty good on sound and graphics. I wish there was a way to go backwards and forwards clearly. I guess that adds to game difficulty.
