myeh.
As point-and-click tower defense games go, it was pretty bland. first the good:
Graphic wise the game was pretty competent, but not anything flashy. As is, your style is only functional , not beautiful. Bot are important, but functionality is better if you can only do one. Also, Cudo's on your concept of making the primary weapon a charge-type deal, as well as having a mouse-wielded weapon, original much. the controls were very good, and my computer wasn't bogged down too badly.
Now the bad: Unfortunately Te game does noting to wow you. its easy to play, fun and upgrades and different weapons are all very well and good, but there's just a couple concepts that bother me.
1. The placement of your machine gun makes it almost useless against smaller craft as you have to aim only sort of in their direction. Once you get the heat seekers its a different story, but starting out is annoying. Try not to place them too far apart and this should no longer be a problem.
2. Most defence games give you the option to buy a NPCT (Non-Player Con trolled tower) This can be anything from an extra turret to shoot things with to special units and the like. For you I recommend letting the player buy flak cannons for airplanes, or perhaps a friendly boat or sub, maybe even a couple of under water mines. Just a thought.
3. Your primary gun overheats, to long if at all. Master chiefs battle rifle does not overheat, Neither does Megatrons blaster, and neither should your cannon. Its your primary weapon, and the fact that we have to charge it makes it only more annoying when we have to wait 3 seconds to shoot it again when we needed it .5 seconds ago. If your trying to simulate reloading, try giving us clips with 3-5 shots (maybe an upgrade to hold more bullets?). If your worried that makes the game to easy, that brings me to point four.
4. Difficulty levels, you don't have them. Try to make it challenging to get to level fifteen, rather than tedious. or maybe let the casual gamer make it to level 30 or whatever to see all the different guns, and speaking of difference...
5. Different bad guys. You have maybe 2-3 small ones, 2 medium types, and one large mother-effer. Great, but to keep things interesting try adding bunches of bad guys; too many boats, make sea monsters; tired of the fish, make planes, see where I'm going. For these kind of games to stay engaging the game has to constantly change, bringing us to to point sixus.
6. Change your field. I got tired of the same boring water-scape. make an occasional reef or sand bar or island or something.
7. You may have noticed some comments about your weapons turning to crap the higher you level up. YOUR GUNS SHOULD BE EQUAL OR MORE POWERFUL THAN YOUR FOE. its a simple rule to follow. If I'm fighting level 25 battle ships, I need a freakin super-doom laser/giant hammer thing, not a crappy gun that isn't accurate, or useful.
It really is an alright game, and I know I'm asking for quite a lot here but until you can pull of all of this and make it look good, only then will this game truly be excellent
