ok...
i am confused, i put in the code and when i test the game my character sinks halfway into the ground.HELP!!! Anyhoo...its a very helpful tutorial and everything works at least a little, and best yet you EXPLAINED THE CODE!!!

on the if touchingGround bit, did you put _y--? If its not there, I think that usually happens.

good tutorial, but i would like to know how to fix something.
If i jump into the air, and i hold the right arrow key down before i land, the player lands running. But then when release the right arrow after this, my player stops moving but is still in the running animation, until i press another button.
I'm sure i have my sprite animations in the right frames because all the animations work fine for everything else except for that one situation i described.
I've followed your tutorial step by step and even tried copy and pasting the whole code, but this bug wont go away. I've noticed that in the example you give this bug does not happen. Any idea what i am doing wrong?

That was an amazing tutorial
I thought this one was explained well. It really solved a lot of problems i was having with jumping. I knew how to do other things.
For beginners, it is up to them to get used to the Flash interface and such. The code was broken down step by step.
It does force you to think. I like that.
