For the first part "make 3 frames". I used a ninja gaiden sprite page. Create 3 separate symbols for you characters stand, run, and jump. After you create the symbols go to insert-new symbol and click it. Now for frame 1 of you new symbol drag your"stand" symbol from your library. For frame 2 drag your "run symbol" and for frame 3 drag your "jump". now follow the tutorial from there.
