Reviews for "Linear Assault"

Well

It's alright, but you could have put more things into the game... It's not so hard to make new weapons and some simple power-ups.

I think this could be a very good game, if you just bothered to polish it up and make some minor improvements.

The graphics were quite good, but a bigger variety of ships could have made the game more interesting.

WarpZone responds:

You're right. What can I say, it was my first game.

I think the problem was, once I got the main gameplay balanced, I was afraid to change anything. For example, right now, you can kill each enemy without taking a hit, but you have to work to accomplish it. If I added for instance a spread power-up to that formula, it would suddenly be less important to get right under the enemy ships, which would render their linear shots less effective, which would give you less incentive to weave between them, which would ultimately lead to you missing more ships because it's harder to aim the diagonal streams of bullets at a specific enemy.

I think the real problem is, I playtested this game so much, I really wore a groove into my brain with the dodge-shot-get-under-target gameplay. I got used to the pattern and started seeing it as something to be preserved. When actually, that's the exact opposite of good game design. :/ I should have realized that.

Good job

You need a plot to keep me interested, I played a game (Not sure it's on newgrounds but we can't promote outside sources so I can't say wich site even though I know it) called astro series melenia. The graphics sucked and the music was fair but the plot kept me interested and in the game desription it said it had a good plot wich is the only reason why i checked it out and it takes a long time to play, even longer to win. Also you need powerups and more enemy formations plus different boss music for each boss. One more thing, your music was better then you said it was

Great idea - but too long

The gfx are great but enemies take too long to kill - esp bosses which makes this game almost p00p

ehh

its ok but i like it

A bit too simple.

Graphics were good but there were no power-ups or upgradeable weapons. Bosses were the high point however the enemies were boring and generic. Adding more variation will greatly boost the fun factor of this game.
