wanted to love it...
Well, yeah, i really wanted to like this game, the visuals were great, like killing ink blobs. I gave this a vote 1. It is beautiful, simple, and kinda sublime, but the gameplay is... well, frustrating.
But, as 100 or more reviewers have already said... BUGS & GLITCHES!!!
These make the game shit. To be honest. Too many bugs and glitches, there are a lot of reviews detailing these. Too hard to move with the slidy floor. Instead of being enjoyable this game quickly become annoying and tedious piece of crap. The 6th level boss was hard, sure, but can be beaten randomly. The 9th level is where I gave up. Just too annoying to play.
Mostly the sliding: It's a simple trick to make a game hard just by having the guy sliding all over the place, you cant even turn around without running. So, simple trick but very weak way to increase difficulty rather than putting in some actual effort on gameplay.
1) fix the bugs
2) fix the slippery floor
3) make the sword fighting less slow/boring looking.. is this guy is a pro? or a swordfighting snail?
4) keep the cool artwork and ink in water effects, that is the best part
5) pause/save funtction
6) turn off the sound option
7) jumping is fun and useful. Add that, and more enemies to even the balance.
Great concept though, love the artwork, its great. The look of this is enough to make me wanna try out a sequel... so long as you read and think about these reviews...
