Reviews for "[2007] REBOOT 8"

Graphic intensive

Can you make a downloadable version so I can see the movie properly? I have a decent system, yet it runs slow on low quality on my comp.

JMartin97 responds:

I'm going to convert it to avi when I get access to a PC. I've been at college on a mac and don't have a program for converting flash 9 to avi without running into problems.

Then I'll upload it to youtube

meh

dude you broke some seriouse golden DONT DO VOICE ACTING if your going to have other people speak in just text it reallys screws the overall feel of the movie you make alot of good choices for your music i will say and try to improve your scenes based around the sound which is good another note would be please improove your art quality square heads aint cool >.>

Not my favorite

Still, it's apparent that this is the result of a lot of time and energy on your part. So I'll try to explain why, despite that fact, I felt this was one giant non-sequitur train-wreck of a movie.

I can see you put in a TON of effort into it, and for that I applaud you. But regardless of whether we've watched the other episodes or not, this is just convoluted and clumsy.

But moreover, aspiring to make something big and epic does not equate to having created quality content. Listen, every single scene is blown up into some grandiose, earth shaking event, including two people looking at each other and speaking very uninspired dialogue. It's like your movie is one giant cut to commercial on a daytime-tv soap opera. A crescendo of music, dramatic zooming and panning, and people behaving as if THEIR... WORLD... HAS... ENDED!

Melodrama is a tool that can be used to great effect, indicating the importance of some scene or event for the characters involved. But when it is overused, as in the case of most anime and this short film in particular, it is exhausting and without merit. The overarching storyline you indicate in previous episodes has been and now continues to be a half-baked series of continual one-liners that end in people's realities detonating over and over. It's without depth.

People generally tend to vote "5" on things they like, and "0" on things they don't, and forget that 1 - 4 are legitimate responses as well. Length of product -- regardless of actual quality of content -- seems to indicate a positive coorelation for ratings as well. Based on your work and obvious effort, weighed against the end result, I'd say you deserve to earn between 2 and 3 in the overall ratings, no higher, no lower.

JMartin97 responds:

Well this episode is especially dramatic because it's finally breaking out of the introduction phase of the story. You've now seen almost all of the characters and there are no more flashbacks for a few episodes.

The next episode is going to be mostly action and fighting, probably pretty dramatic as well! If you aren't a fan of this format, I suggest you find something else =-o

i think we have a problem......

ummmm not to be a fucktard but ummm.... cant you get in trouble? seeing as reboot is a licensed name? seeing as it was a show? and you have "show" called reboot?

JMartin97 responds:

no

That was long lol

That was one long movie, pretty good though, obvisoly i didn't see the other episodes before so i have no idea what the plotline is, but that didn't effect my score. The graphics were pretty good, and I like it when people put quality buttons and other sorts of movie controls on the screen, it really helps, good movie, make more.
