What the hell. OK so this is what happened...
I played the game on newgrounds and got some nice high score (it's good to build a lot of markets). Then I clicked submit and I didn't get to look at my score any more and review what I'd done... it just went to a screen saying that I couldn't submit my score.
Then I went to your site and played it, and I got a score of about 1 million (Supaman on the high scores). But the thing that's total crap is that when I got to the end of the game, it suddenly said I lost the game... what the hell is up with that?? My happiness was like 500, my army was 501, I had 10th level fortress, I was richer than Croesus having had 200 markets and 200 farms for the past 10 turns. I sold most of my buildings at the end but that shouldn't suddenly make me lose, especially since I kept the food.

Another thing that sucks about the game is the randomness. It's terrible in the beginning to suddenly have all your farms burn down or whatever, so you die for no reason. And in the game I was talking about that I played to the end, it kept saying I'm being haunted by a spirit, and oh, that means negative 377 happiness for this turn! Three hundred seventy seven, that's really how much it was one turn. Or minus 90 happiness because someone got their drains clogged. That's bs. If you're going to be random like that it should not all be penalties, you should have that you gain 400 happiness some turns.

first let me thank you for spending that much time for playing and reviewing...
I know the game isn't perfectly balanced, yet - and it's frustrating sometimes. But randomness is the nature of rolling dices! And that is, what the game does!
Uh, and the thing with the "spirit"... read this: http://www.gutenberg.org/etex t/61

quite entertaining

it was quite funny. i did pretty much shit but still, good idea. i know a game exactly like this but its a proper computr game, called stronghold.

pretty good

only problem was for about 5 years in a row i had fire and the before that i had plague so i died pretty quickly

finefin responds:

things like that happen when you roll the dice... if you have bad luck like this I suggest you quit and start a new game.
