Reviews for "The Ambridge Mansion-Day2"

Excellent

Just played both games and loved 'em.
I do agree with all those saying black and white is better. It is.
Some aspects of especially the first part of the game brougt the "Donnie Darko" movie to mind. Is there a connection??

At long last, we return to Ambridge

I loved the first game when it came out. In fact, this series is the FIRST horror game I ever allowed myself to play, and because of it, I love the genre now. The story is compelling, and the atmosphere is perfectly creepy even in broad daylight with a light on. I especially liked the "shivering woman", as I call her: she's OBVIOUSLY dangerous, but you can't help but reach out and touch her just to make sure-AHHHHH!! (lol)
That said, I am sorry to see the transition from "seudo-grey" to full color. I really felt that added to the atmosphere of the first game, giving it an almost Edgar Allen Poe feel of dread and despair. Also, the window was a bit small, so it was hard to make out and fine detail. And finally, my first game I died early and spent the next half hour looking for an ax that wasn't there before reading reviews and finding out it was a bug.
But I do enjoy seeing the change coming to the house (by the way, my vote on the raven: it's actually a shadow monster in disguise), and the sound effects sent chills up my spine, a nice addition.
All in all, a mixed bag: sorry to lose the graphic look, and the bug sucked, but otherwise the game delivered on the horror and shock. All in all, a great job, I can't wait to see the next chapter...well, part of me can, but the rest says "hurry up!"

Pretty good...

...I didn't get that far into the game, because I was a little disappointed with the colour. Honestly, it was MUCH better in black and white, it added alot more to the atmosphere of the game, that's what set it appart from the rest of the horror games around. I mean, sure it's still good, but it would have been a LOT better in black and white. I hope if you make another one you'll change it back to the original way, and you'll make it longer. I liked the idea that you're waiting every year for halloween to make each episode, but if your going to wait a year, you could have made it alot longer.

i don't scare easily

but it gave me goose bumps

only problem i could find is the bug ,mentioned by others, about dieing
and then if you don't have the axe wax box and tongs they vanish
im not complianing i just think it should be looked into at least as
something to watch out for in the nex instalment

you might try betatesting ,assuming you don't already, testing it on a freind who dosn't know how to beat it becouse they would probably die at least once and the problem would be brought to light

Pretty, but I liked the first one better.

After the death wake-up from the dream sequence in game 1, I was on my edge as I played through the rest of it. Even the window-death truly creeped me out. This one didn't quite do it for me.

- Maybe it was the final puzzle that was perhaps a bit too obtuse for its own good.

- Maybe it was the lack of black & white which killed the mood, although I must say the new artwork is ASTOUNDING.

- Maybe it was the damn TV Demon that causes your inventory to dissapear.

- Maybe it was the smaller window, which made it harder to feel as if I was actually there.

Points 1 and 4 should be easily fixed in Game 3 (less obtuse puzzles and larger window). I understand that now that you've created the color rooms, you won't want to go back. I can accept that.

One interesting thing I noticed. The person often wonders why they're growing so many plants in the lab, yet in the dream sequence which takes place on day 7 (I presume) the lab is the most normal place in the house that really didn't change much. Does plant life have a significant power in the series?
