Reviews for "The Halloween Hunt"

How do you activate weapon levels?

please tell me i'm very confused by that, otherwise amazing game :-D

OMGWTFBBQ!

Is that MY music what you used in this game? WOW, mayor thanks dud _O_

Now for the game. I first admit that I'm not a big Halloween fan, but I do like RPG's. Now this one feels slight easy, because you have full health after each battle again, but the battles are quite tough so I bet it was the good decision to do that :)

10/10

EviLudy responds:

Yep, your music. Was quite helpful, especially the catchy lilium piano tune. I play the guitar and I'm still practising the piano. Question though: Can you PM me whether you actually played the music on the piano or used a music creation program to make the music?

On a side note: I'm dutch as well =)

A Good RPG

Being a huge RPG fan I couldn't pass this game up.. And its good. Great atmosphere, a quick and fun pacing that keeps you going, and good music. The controls were also excellent with no bugs or glitches that I could see, and while the graphics were a bit weak, it didn't detract from the gameplay.

Now with the good out of the way, its time to hit the bad. The small stuffs that made this game a bit off to me.

First we've got the monsters. There are a small number of them and they are re-used constantly. It makes the game a touch more repetitive then it should be, but doesn't detract all that much. What does detract heavily however is the inconsistant damage and Gold carrying the monsters do. In the first act, on my first battle, I died no less then 3 times because the monsters damage and mine was totally unbalanced. If you hit for 20, and the monster hits for 50 to 70, when you only have 170 hp, and monster seems to have only sleightly less hp then you do, there are some problems. The damage seems totally inconsistant, and even later on the monsters damage can be insanely high or rediculously low. Fortunately the damage scale seems to even out more or less, and stays in a good moderate range. If you can survive your first few monsters, you'll survive fairly easily.
However, once you get past this hurdle the game becomes pretty smooth, till you hit the Gold Problem. You can be in the final act, taking hundreds of hp in damage from monsters in somewhat tough fights, and only get 16 gold. As by the time you get to that act each attribute point/skills cost range in the thousands.. Your going to have to fight a LOT of monsters to even gain one attribute point. On the opposite side, you can also gain nearly 500-600 gold in one easy fight. The gold range, unlike monster damage, is pretty random and you can get streaks of low gold, or even high gold. One time I fought no less then 6 monsters, and pulled perhaps 16 to 51 gold a fight.. and then I get 500 gold in the one after.. bizzare.

The final monster note is also on hp, again it seems random and to range a bit, but not terribly so. Other then the hp of monsters when your starting its not too bad, though it does seem a bit high later on. Boss hp was waaaay too low, I killed the dragons in roughly 2 hits EACH, while some monsters were still taking 3 or more. The final boss is the exception as he was suitably tough, wasn't sure I'd beat him the first time. (I did)

Moving away from the monsters, we enter skill land. The skills don't have much explanation, and tend to do lotsa damage to monsters. In fact the damage of skills was so much better then attacks that I completely abandoned regular attacks after learning the first skill. While they say you sould budget your energy for skills, with a few points in the 'mana' attribute you have no trouble using skills pretty much whenever you want.

The skills themselves are divided into three groups it seems: The weak skill group: which does lotsa damage. The aiding skill group: while lets you increase your damage, health, and defence? (use of this skill provided a message saying <blank> was being raised), The final set is the strong skill group: EXTREME damage to monsters.

The skills get stronger as you do, meaning they are tied to your attributes. Problem is they don't say what attribute they are tied to, the two attack attributes, Power and Magic, seem to affect each skill equally.

The cost of skills is weird too. The weakest of the weak skills (Combo) costs 250 gold. The next one up (Cross-slash) costs the same amount and does MORE damage. The energy cost is higher, BUT in most battles that makes little difference.

Also when you get the strong skill set, you pretty much can't be beaten. Maximum, weakest of the strong set, kills pretty much anything easily. If you get Overdrive, (strongest of the set) you kill everything one hit, except the final boss. These skills do have a VERY high energy cost, but it tends not to matter.

All in all though, this is a great and fun game that could be better with just a little work.

Great Haloween RPG

well the gajme was great for the upcoming holiday. nice to play a new rpg. one of the problems i had with this was when u got a battle lvl up, the enemies would still drop low amounts of cash. that being said, the only other problem (and perhaps the killer of this game) was that the enemies critted WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much and WAAAAAAAAAAAY too high. work on the battle mechanics, turn the crit rate down and make the crit multiplier consistant as getting critted for 1k is bearable but then getting critted for 2.5k right after isnt. FIX THAT.

not bad...

this is something new for me im really going to review your game.
these where some of the problems i had in your game. (there wernt enof monsters in the game.) (i didnt know what the lvl of the monsters so i didnt know if i was going to die or not.) (the sound got old and yes i know i could turn it off but if i did do that then i couldnt here the sound effects.) (do the swords do anything?) (also make the swords different colors or shapes.) (some of the monsters had a uber attack and i died with one hit.) (it would be nice to see more items.)

well thats all i can think of so i hope my review helps.
