Reviews for "Going Down to Newgrounds"

The song was good, the flash wasn't

Seriously, the flash itself is just not that good. Definitely not worth the 9s and 10s it's getting, which just to point out all bear the comment "Nice song" or something along those lines. I'm looking, I haven't seen any positive comments on the animation itself.

And just fyi, exploding on people who don't happen to like your flash (see review below) isn't really a good reflection on yourself as an artist...or person. In fact, it just makes you look petty and silly. And of COURSE people review flashes based on personal preferences, what would you have us rate them on?

stoners-lunchbox responds:

I have seen positive comments on the animation itself,so you're another moron who shot himself in the foot.

You can't rate a flash on personal reference, you dick! that's why you're given 6 categories to vote on at the bottom of each review screen! So study around story elements rather than what YOU wanna see before you make such blunt comments!

eh....

this really isn't that much to look at...looks like it took a couple hours to make...

4.04 is unreasonably high for this movie's score, and the animation is not good....the movie matches the song, but i think its the song that got you the high score, not the flash animation itself...

make the graphics better and add more animation to it...make it longer too....

even though it was a music video of denvish's most popular song, i still think you could add more to it or at least have had that small section take part in a larger movie...i just didn't enjoy watching it because the author didn't try....

i know this phrase is old, but....

try harder next time and you'll feel better about it...even though a daily first still makes you feel better, i still think you know this is not a very good 'movie as a whole'....

stoners-lunchbox responds:

Ok, let's start from the top.

4.04 is a score that i didn't pick. It's a broad audience that thought it was good. If you don't like it disagree with them. Not me. As for the animation it took a couple of weeks, not a couple of hours. I tried hard like i do for every flash i make, thank you very much!

Making it longer is a no-no if the song is as long as it can get. I wanted to pay a tribute to the song. That's all.

Take part in a larger movie... If that would've been my initial idea, then perhaps... But my idea was to focus on the song. This submission was NOT for me. You can call it "publicity" if you may. The so called "author" has tried as hard as he always does. If you can't appreciate that then you're not a very good audience member because you can't recognise that in me.

This phrase is indeed quite old... You couldn't be more right...

I try harder every time i make a new cartoon. A daily first makes me feel good about my work (specially considering that it's my first).

What makes me feel better is the fact that "some" people know that i'm actually working hard to give them a good show. Unfortunately it's only "some" people...

Thanks for trying to give me decent feedback, but you tried to put words into my mouth, assuming that you "knew what i was thinking" rather thank just focusing on my film's flaws... Those were all i wanted to hear.

OK

I know that the song is not a great one for a video, but here were my problems with ure video.
- It didn't go anywhere. If i remember correctly, there were (2?) verses that were the non chorus. What I look for in a video is some sort of continuince if it is not incredibly high quality in animation. Your video seemed to be "Hey, heres the chorus. Now here's the verse. Here's the chorus again..." Essentially you were reacting to the song, rather than making the song react to you instead. If that makes any sense.
- I don't think that the song has much replay value, of course that probably has to do with my taste in music. It's just not...something that I would watch again. It doesn't overwhelm me with goodness. Like i said before, if the animation was more drastic, and it wasn't repetative, i may decide to watch it again.

Other than that, it was pretty good. The syncronization seemed alright, although it also didn't seem too complicated to do. The animation fit the song. The graphics were...better than I could do. Not that that statement says much anyways.

stoners-lunchbox responds:

Shame you see it that way...

Though you have a point. The animation was good made but it was mainstream... Like you said it went from chorus to verse and back to chorus. I was just trying to fit exactly what the song sang. I don't usually do music videos. The only time i did before this was my "Floor" music video and that was a bit better i guess (probably because the song was actually my own).
The song itself is just a matter of taste... We can only agree to disagree on that one, since you're not a big fan of it, yet i think the song deserves a lot of praise.

Either way, i'll try improving the graphics and for my own sake i won't make another music video for a while.

Well, thanks for the feedback! Yours actually helps!

I know i may have given you high rated stuff

At first i was hoping for a parody of "Devil Going Down To Georgia" not sure why(that does not efect your score) well u see although u did a marvelous job on sound, style, and graphics, i just didnt enjoy the movie. First of all it was a great idea, but you just shouldnt do a bluegrass kinda song, i was saying to myself "wheres the jar that they blow into?" but when the guy was using the instrument he was plucking the same string although the bass was different(and if u ment it to be for the guitar, that was off too) the song was catchy but it became repetitive, after using the same lyrics for both verses. So hopefully you will try to do this agian, but maybe(if country) give it a better tune, and more lyrics, still good job on animation and such.

stoners-lunchbox responds:

This was a Denvish tribute and the bass string played notes accordingly. But since you think it's a flaw we can only agree to disagree... The song did get repetitive and it's a flaw that many people spotted out and that i promised not to repeat. I will not try and do this again. I will move on with my series since i have no time to waste and it goes against what i do do repeat something that's already been pubished.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Good song, bad animation.

This was nothing that special to be honest, the music was prety good but the animation was lacking in almost every way. Based on the looks of it, the author hates sticks as well. Stickmen are just shortcuts to avoid having to do much real animation, maybe the author should've done this himself as he obviously made a glorified slideshow with the occaisional neurotic twitch of animated life.

stoners-lunchbox responds:

Obviously you seem like someone who went against me because he thinks we're stick haters... We like sticks, only problem is that we see too many stick animations and half of the ones coming into the portal totally suck. As for your comment about my animation theme, need i remind you that this tribute is also another episode of my Ratbag & Furball series. That's the only reason for which i used those characters in it.

Thanks for the feedback, but it sounded like you didn't have a clue as to what i did and why. Rather than assuming you should ask first. Denvish thought i did a great job with it.
