Reviews for "Project: Monochrome"

you beat raiden, well done

I thought nobody would do it, but you have. You have satisfied my needs of a 2d vertical scrolling shooter. Raiden only satisfied me about 90%. the problem with it was i got angry when i died because 1, you lose all your upgrades and 2, it was to hard to make a comeback with the stock weapons. the ship variety is awesome, you can't just sit back and hold spacebar the whole time and expect to win. the upgradeable weapon system is AWESOME!!! it makes me happy that someone finally got it right. you can buy more weapons, upgrade them, and upgrades COMBINE weapons which is an awesome idea and you used it to its fullest. This game is definately better than raiden, which i thought to be the best game on newgrounds. raiden has no storyline, your storyline is intresting and isn't corney like many other games on newgrounds. Raiden is repetetive, of course i never thought any of this until i played this game. In raiden you die and simply respawn and commense the shooting. Here, you fail, but then you want to go back and try a new weapon/strategy, making this game very addictive and also giving it a huge replay value. you did everything Raiden did wrong and did it right, and everything it did right, and made it better! What blows me away most is this is an ORIGINAL game, raiden is a remake of an old arcade game honestly there is nothing wrong with this game, you know that, and so do i, other people are either immature kids, or jealous losers. I commend you greatly for your work, i hope to see a possible sequal or another game at al from you. haha i have to shut up and go back to playing, i failed to kill the W ship beta's twice now and i'm itching for some revenge.

lol i read the part about the storyline. I personally think my storyline is very corny and I made it up as I made the game

Loved it

thanks for the great game
i will play this again

not too hard, not too easy, and if you die, you don't have to start all over again.
Near the end the waves got long a repetitive and please create a save feature.

Thanks!

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

Um, so the words save and continue don't mean a save feature to you? w/e

A Couple Things

It's a good g ame overall. I don't think it's front page material, but it's deffinitely top 5 daily. Anyway, I suggest you do one of three things...
1. Remove the turrets
2. Slow the speed of the turrets
3. Put some kind of system with which the turrets shoot.

The turrets are just too damned difficult. Even on easy. Sometimes, they will go the whole time they are on screen without shooting at you. Other times, they will shoot 15 times. And it's not the fact that they shoot, it's the fact that they shoot randomly. There is no rhyme or reason to their shots, so you have no idea when to cross them to get to the other side. Other than the turrets though, I saw no problems with the game. No glitches, which is good to see. Keep up the good work, and please do something about these turrets.

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

Yu can easily kill turrets with backshot

Great!

You might want to ignore that other reviewer, although he has some points, I overall enjoyed this game, so what if the sound wasnt great, I played it with my speakers off, and I still enjoyed the game, the missions are good, what I would suggest is add, temporary powerups in the missions, that have some special effects on the weapons or something. It would also make the game a bit more interesting to add missions that you can select, instead of straight-forward mission after mission, its just a suggestion.

its ok

Its an ok scrolling game, neither best or worst of the scrolling arcade.
It sounded like a cool concept but then when the game started and the sound started going it was as Ratmeat says as "very harsh and grating, and the "music" seems nothing more than a manic two second loop of robot fart noises."
The graphics are like something that you would expect from a NES but more refined and the ship AIs and weapons choices are mediocre at best
