Reviews for "Chanter Tales 1.1"

Interesting...

I thought the art style was pretty nice, but your animation of the characters was even nicer. How do you make their movements seem so realistic. I was especially impressed with it when that guy was moving down the snow ledge. I almost looked like it was motion captured or something. Anways, wouldn't mind seeing another.

Ghosty22 responds:

I've been animating since I was a little kid. So maybe it's just a matter of experience.

Also, I used this G. I. Joe action figure to make sure the character was proportionate to a human being.

Of course it helps to have a mirror that you can walk past, while studying how you move. You could also go to a park bench or an outdoor restaraunt where lots of people walk by. Look at people and study them. But I guess there are a number of factors to consider.

good

very well drawn, the style was good, sound was pretty good, 3 for interactivity because of the play button at the start. 0 for humor though, the last part makes me want to see a sequal. 8 overall for a great job. keep these coming.

Ghosty22 responds:

The play button at the start?

I know the "replay" button doesn't work, but I thought the play button worked fine. Did you not like the glow of it? Me not understand...

ummm...yea

The animation itself was good. Some really nice effects in there. The dialogue was pretty bad, as was the voice acting.but overall not bad. I gave you a 4 out of the 5.

Ghosty22 responds:

Bad in terms of acting? Or bad in terms of writing? Or both?

Very Interesting...

I liked it, very different with a subtle humor fitting the genre...

Ghosty22 responds:

Thanks. Actually I was hoping to form a new genre. Seems like most fantasy stories have an escapist comic book feel to them. I was hoping to give this a more realistic feel. And I was hoping to blend horror with fantasy somehow, but I guess the two often go hand in hand.

A little rough around the edges, but pretty good!

Here's what I liked about your movie: definitly the storyline- original, powerful, and creative- has a nice openning and it captured my interest. The characters' movements were realistic(for the most part...). The graphics were. . .not bad!(shows progress). You also had a great selection of music.

Here's what you need to work on: voice acting(sounded like some person reading the script). Sometimes the characters seemed a little lifeless or robotic(the giant, for example, was perfectly still and had almost no emotion). In some parts the characters looked a little distorted.

Ultimately, I think you have great potential. This movie was pretty good and I'm really looking forward to seeing the next one.

Ghosty22 responds:

Thanks for the review.

When you say the characters were distorted, I'm hoping you're refering to the drawings in the beginning... When I started out, I really didn't have very much experience drawing realistic people. Most of the people I drew were big-headed Charlie-Brown-like characters. So in the beginning they have stubby arms and big heads... But then as I got further into it, I started to get a better hold on the proportions. I'll probably go back and fix the big-headed guys at some point.
