Reviews for "Kazmo - Sinking In"

Very calming.

The beginning was nice and simplistic, the way I like it. As I said on MSN, the pad things in the beginning were amazing. One problem though, I didn't like the phasering hihats. I don't know, they just didn't appeal to me.
As for after the beginning, I liked the very calm build up with the piano and such. the simplistic saw sine really caught me good.

I can't think of anything else, but good job!

Song is FAV'D

Kazmo responds:

Ya the phasing hats/clap was experimental, I think it's a nice touch though, but everyone has their own opinion/preference. :]

Thanks for the review and fave! :D

Inspirational

This is one of those certain pieces of music that let me daydream to my heart and mind's content while listening to it. Not only that, but it gives me the motivation and inspiration to pick up my tablet and just go with what the music makes me see. I absolutely love that, so thank you for sharing this!!!

This is a wonderful piece! I wish I could better explain just why I enjoy it so much, but I hope you can just take my word for it that this has quickly become one of my favorite songs, and not just on NG.

Kazmo responds:

I'm really glad you've enjoyed this song so much!

Thanks for the kind words and review!

Sounds awesome

I love the mood of the song. The writing is catchy and very mesmerizing. Also, you have some really great transitions between the different sections. Great work with the frequency filters - a lot of people over-do it with those and I think you've done it very subtly but also very effectively. Especially at from 2:40 to 3:03. The fade ins and the dips are very interesting to listen to.

As for some critiques:

I only have one and that is that the piano that comes in around 1:50 sounds very digital. Dare I say FL Keys? Anyway, it's really tough to get a realistic sounding piano with synths but I thought I'd just throw it out there.

Thanks

Larkeep

Kazmo responds:

Nope, it's not FL Keys, it's a Rolland soundfont. I feel that it just fit the song better than the Steinway soundfont I have, it pierces through the lead more, the Steinway is a tad too soft.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D

Like I've said before, I feel that transitions are sooooo important in trance. And yes, I'm learning that it's not always about the filters, FX play a huuuge part in transitions, and combinations of filters/automations are key.

Thanks for the awesome review!

Synths are great, they move along nicely with the track, and never looses the their main spot in the track, the synth used at 1:50~ has some clicking sounds to it, but I had that too in New world, so I know it's probably just the synth that is weird that way.

I think if you had used the piano (or a piano with more bang to it) along with the main synth @ 2:47, playing the same notes ( you know when you just copy/paste the padlines to a piano ;D), it would have made for a better impact.

Nothing more to say really, only that I love the euphoric feel in your tracks, with no exception to this track.

keep it up!

Kazmo responds:

Yup, the clicking is the characteristic of the synth, and I feel that it adds nice texture to the song.

"I think if you had used the piano (or a piano with more bang to it) along with the main synth @ 2:47, playing the same notes ( you know when you just copy/paste the padlines to a piano ;D), it would have made for a better impact." Maybe, but I really hate having two piano parts playing at the same time, notes can conflict, in the case that both parts could either cross parts, or hit the same note at the same time, know what I'm saying? Either way, I feel that the piano acts more like a transitional part rather than a counter melody, although it does a good job with that too. :P

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the review and support you always show. :D
