Not bad
It has a ton of potential, but the game needs some polish. First, get rid of that music, and add in some nice tunes. Second, speed up the pace of the game some. Then improve the collision detection and, if you can, add a bit more sparkle to the graphics. Do all this and you'll have a classic on your hands. For now though, i'm giving you 3/5. Nice work.

One major problem, the boss didn't shoot back. I assume it was supposed to, along with some of the enemies. It jsut sort of sat there while I blew it up. Fix that, add the ending screen and maybe speed it up a pinch and it would be great.
Getting there
You have a good engine. But you need to up the sounds and the speed majorly. Sounded blocky. But if u give this some work. You could make front page.

I love the old R-type games
I remember playing this when I was like 4 years old on my uncles amiga... amain game... you done well, but would be better if more enemies fired... and if it had the old controls... but i still enjoyed it :)
