Reviews for "A Modest Love Story"

Very well done.

There was something oddly serene about that flash. It was different.

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Thanks. I've never really thought about it like that, but maybe you're right.

Wow.

This was one of the best flashes I've seen in a long time, the animation was awesome, and the story was very sweet, and also meaningful, if I'm not reading into it too much. It's simplicity allows for individual interpretations. It blows away 97% of the submissions to this site.

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Thank you very much. I'm happy that you like it so much. I like simple things, I AM a simple thing.

Mixed feelings.

Hmm, I have to say, I have mixed feelings about this one. I am watching it and half way through it seems apparent that the Boy Meets Girl Relationship Mold is happening, so they meet and hold hands. But then, they build a relationship, which i think was represented by the glowing red thingy, so the boy is cherishing it and the girls takes it. Now at this point I thought the relationship would fall apart because they have to share it, neither of them can own it, so I am expecting a break up. But all that happens is the boy fades away! So what the hell.. wait a minute... after watching it agian, I like it, it makes sense. The boy faded away representing the relationship is over and the love story done. Thanks for making this and letting me do some relfecting this day, great job. It all makes sense to me, well at least I got something from it. =)

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Hmm... Yes... No... Yes! I think you're wonderful for thinking so much. Keep spinning those wheels!

P.S. I'm kinda drunk!

I can't believe I missed this...

..the first time round

Another great piece of work. I can see you've got a great method of story telling. Well done on creating a deep and meaning plot with no words.

The daily third place is well deserved.

You are becoming my favourite artist!

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Thank you! Wow. I'll try not to dissapoint you too much with my future submissions.

You get 24 points for being cool.

This is my favourite of your submissions. It reminds me of a lot of things. In Requiem for a Dream when they're lying next to each other on the seat. The Roger Sanchez clip for Another Chance, where the chick is walking around NY city with a giant heart, and as people are being mean (as they are) her heart shrinks smaller and smaller. Death too, even though the bit at the end doesn't seem that unhappy, it almost seems like they were both aware of the fact that he was going away, or something. Subtle, I'm so used to seeing explosive emotions, violent reactions and people having mental breakdowns in Flash movies that it's strange to have so much room for thought.

BTW, you have good taste in music.

BlackmarketKraig responds:

An AGH review!
Oh, be still my ever beating heart this IS a good day. ^_^

It's my favorite submission too, even though I have learned a lot since I made this, I have no desire to redo it or fix anything about it. Unlike nearly everything else I do, for which I have more doubts than hairs on my head, this one, for whatever reason, feels right.

I've seen Requiem for a Dream but it's been awhile and my memory is muddy so perhaps I'll have to watch it again so that I can see that moment.

...I did look up the Another Chance clip you mentioned and enjoyed it greatly. It has the gloom and whimsy that leaves an impression (on me at least) and it is left open in the end, which is the way I think a story to be told. Cynics and optimists can both find their muses.

You know, I've never been very secure about my taste in music, but I like what I like and that's pretty much all there is to it. :)

Thanks for reviewing! =D
