Clarence's Big Chance is a silly game where you play as an ugly, middle-aged virgin who's finally managed to get a date for the first time in his life. He doesn't want to mess it up, but he also has to go through his daily routine!
So you need to jump around platforms in four large levels, collecting items in order to make a better impression on the girl at the end.
There are five endings; the one you get is determined by how many items you collect, and whether you say the right things during the date at the end!

Really good game but with crazy difficulty areas

The game is fun, long and challenging
-good controls
-fun to find collectibles
- good length at least as long as some short console games, like wiiware or arcade games
-great dialouge with npc's and signs are comedic
-got a bug once that caused me to keep running straight super fast and lose control, not gamebreaking but annoying and i had to reload the game
-some areas need more checkpoints
-super hard difficulty in some areas but the worst is the hisdtory of internet level and the vanising blocks OMG thats sooo hard and almost impossible to master as the blocks vanish so fast
-no medals
Decision- 9/10 good game with a humorus story and good controls but a lack of checkpoints in some extremely challenging areas and no medals to reward us out of game cause it to fall short of being amazing

Everything I want from a game, and then some...

Platforms, humour, retro gaming references, a mute button, longevity, collectibles and disappearing platforms and then some lovely twists, like the zombies and the NPCs with their individual dialogues.

I got 96%, i don't think i'll play again now for those final scraps, but I realyl thoroughly enjoyed the five or more hours I spent in this game which just kept opening up and getting bigger.

Thank you very much. This was exactly the game I have been looking for.

Great game!

Overall, an extremely well-done platformer, one of the best I've run into on newgrounds, really.

Graphically, it fits well with the 'platformer era' machines, and it fits in with sound quality as well. Control is good, hit detection is good, the challenge is just right (I can't think of any part that was impossible- but more than a few where I was yelling "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME" at the computer).

there's only a couple things i didn't like (and, yes, I know the first thing is me being stupid, bear with me) one was the 'date', at the end. Not sure why, since I knew going into the game that that's what was at the end.

second, the text-speak crap, during both the boss and options during the date part were... well, bad. With the boss it was kind of unexpected and funny, but when you're struggling to puzzle out what the hell a line of text says, well, it kind of ruins it in my opinion. During the date it was much worse, since a wrong selection there can change the ending.

Overall, though? very solidly a 9/10, probably a 9.5/10 really. The only things I didn't like aren't any flaw in the game, just my own personal preferences, and it's kind of stupid to take points off because I didn't like parts, especially with a game that's as good, overall, as this one.
