Hunters: Relic of Stars is a 2D Action Platformer, a love letter to many old school action games of the 8 and 16 bit eras. There are six stages in total, this is the just first one!

Play stage 2 here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/566291
Play stage 3 here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/566564
Play stage 4 here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/566734
Play stage 5 here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/566895
Play stage 6 here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/567109

CONTROLS:
Arrow Keys - Move / Aim
Z - Shoot
X - Jump
C - Change Weapons (when available)
Spacebar - Pause / Open Map

You can also use WASD to move and JKL to shoot/jump/change weapons, however on some browsers/keyboards you may run into issues with too many keys being pressed at once, nothing I can do about that.

PLAY WITH A CONTROLLER:
========================
If you have a PC Gamepad, I highly recommend using the Joy2Key Software. You can download it: here: http://bit.ly/NCx4h

Saving - Progress through the stage is saved automatically at every major checkpoint. If you have to leave and come back, your progress will still be there!

Bugs - If you do find a bug, please report it to me via PM. Be as descriptive as you can, I can't fix things if I don't know what went wrong!

Sticky Keys Bug - If the keys feel like they're sticking, character keeps running after you let go, please read the third post in this thread: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1123318
This is a bug with some browsers/systems and there's really nothing I can do to fix it.

I dont like the way you responded to keeth33

I dont like the way you responded to keeth33's review.

Getting mad and using language like this makes me think your world Isn't much bigger than simple flash games. This here is the place to write your opinion about your game. You don't need tho read them when you can't accept that some people don't like your stuff.

I allsoe didn't like the graphics, felt kinda out of date and the drawing skills where not from the best hand. The colours where nice though, allsoe the sound.

And there where bugs, atleast in my gameplay: at certain points the jump button didn't seem to work together with the forward running. Another thing i could only shoot only to the right upper angle and not to the left one, could point, but no bullets came out.

Your game was OK, not one of the worst ones, but not one of the best ones eigter.

Just be polite to people you don't know personally and accept negative comments too.

Peace

I didn't get mad because he criticized the game, or called the graphics bad. There are plenty of other reviews doing that and I don't care, that's their opinion.

I got mad because he just casually threw out the statement that there were lots of bugs, and didn't follow up on it whatsoever, when my author comments asks that you please be as descriptive as possible and PM me when reporting bugs. I've worked for years to make the game run as smooth as possible, and yes, it hit a sore spot when someone just claims its buggy without actually doing anything to help.

As for the issue you reported, unfortunately it sounds like a key limit issue caused by certain keyboards, maybe internet explorer, where you can only have so many keys pressed at once, so when doing things with 4 buttons at once, it starts to lock up. There's nothing I can do about this sadly. If you're using the WASD control scheme, I would recommend using the arrow keys instead, they seem less prone to freaking out keyboards by pressing too many keys at once.

What is the deal with the disproprtional uploads?

I can't give any good ratings till the size issue is addressed.

Rhete responds:

I honestly have no idea what you mean by this.

Thanks for the zero though.

Nice, very nice.

I liked everything about this game, from the attitude of the protagonist to the overall level design and controls. It would be nice if the main character could jump higher.
Also, the artwork of the characters could use a little touch up. I like the anime style, it just need a little more detail. Overall, nice game, just don't do what a lot of people on newgrounds have done and make one awesome game, promise a sequel and never deliver.

Rhete responds:

Thanks for the review, and don't worry, all six stages are complete and will be uploaded soon! I'm not sure on the exact release schedule yet, but I promise there will be a continuation, and it won't be that far away. Probably within a week at the most. Stage 1 is also the shortest stage, so there is a lot more to come!

just one thing

my only complaint about it is that i didnt have sounds on, so i played the whole game without knowing whats the story was about. maybe subtitles could be an option, dont know, just saying. but the game is pretty good, even though the graphics are "bad" like some said, it played very smooth and i didnt need to change the quality to run in my netbook. no bugs at all. and dont know why, but the begining of the game kinda reminded me of Jet Force Gemini, any relation? great work by the way

Rhete responds:

Aww, I would definitely recommend playing with sound, for all the awesome audio portal music, and all the voices too of course.

I haven't actually ever played Jet Force Gemini and know very little about it, but I do know that the final boss of it, Mizar, has the same name as my games main antagonist, so there may be a few more unintended similarities between the two.

Good Game

I think this was great. The voice acting sounded good, and it was well animated in the cut scenes. Yeah it could have been more realistic, but that's not what the authors were going for. The gameplay is good, I think there's room for improvement but there's always sequels. Jumping is a little spotty, could have had more choices in the gun selection, even for "chapter 1" but still, good.

Rhete responds:

The game intentionally starts with her standing in outer space, realism was definitely not a main concern. ;)
