Step back in time, rather, times to visit several moments of history needed to be retold. Your family's cursed history of death and loss in times of struggle is about to be routed, and it's up to you to stitch the pieces back together... literally.

Dark Cut 3 is one of my more ambitious projects to date. Going back to nearly a year ago, the intention was to make Dark Cut 2 a Civil War surgery simulator and to make Dark Cut 3 a futuristic simulation. However, the prospect of creating future surgeries is rather difficult. Newer surgeries have less mess, less stress, and other things that end in -ess. In other words, sterile was not what I wanted at all. So I compromised... new technology to revisit older times. A time machine, if you will.

The music in this project was composed by MaestroRage. His music was in the original Dark Cut 2 and he left me a nice review which meant he liked it, so I approached him this time to do custom tracks for this game. His work was amazing, as usual.

I hope you enjoy this project, it was definitely a lot of work and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed hitting Ctrl+Enter for the first time.

There are extra treatments you can do on the Armor Games website that do not really pertain to the story, so if you are craving pus you should go over there :).

"Great game."

date: November 19, 2009

I had my share of frustration with 2, for about 5 minutes, until i actually read the author commentary, where it said to make sure the patient is good and liqoured up. the drunker they are the less they feel. granted, we are never told that in game, just as in this game we're never told about the SEDATE button in the upper-right corner, that works wonders. i didn't fail a single surgery in this game once, and as for a challenge, i'd say that it's actually been steadily decreasing as the games go on. but on a level of creativity and ingenuity, i'm still in love. So for people like davoor who, granted, at least tried for 5 minutes to understand the concept and failed, please don't call the game unbeatable. explore your options, pay attention to the whole screen, and to your environment, and you'll have no trouble at all. i hope to see another one soon, and i would like the surgeries to be a little lengthier like in 2. but if i just get another clone of this one, hell i'll still be happy.

"Very nice idea ..."

... but sadly, this game suffers from the same issues like the second one. The time limits are ridiculously small, I didn't finish a single level without repeating it until I had memorized the entire process of the surgery. And even if I had, the accuracy needed to perform the single steps makes you fail on bad luck more often than on lacking skill. Especially cleaning a wound/area is painfully difficult beacuse you have to hit the single dots with pinpoint accuracy but are unable to see with which part of the rag you have to hit them.
Another thing ... I appreciated the effort of embedding the surgery into a kind of "story" but the setting of computer-uplinked-time-travel-surgery -family-saving did not really manage to catch on. I guess you should limit yourself to one science-fiction scenario at a time. :p

Still, decent graphics and quite challening if you're one not easily to be frustrated.
