IMPORTANT: Make sure CAPS LOCK is not on while playing this game, otherwise some buttons won't work. It's a flaw in the code, sorry about that...

The Rise of a KING takes a turn to the role playing genre, but still retains the action from its predecessor. If you havent played The Rise of a Knight, then there is a "Story so Far" section where you can watch a slideshow of what happened in the first game.

Explore the world in and around Stormguard Castle as you start off on your first day as a Knight. Times are getting dark with the current king and many others behaving strangely while more and more dangerous creatures appear, causing trouble all over the kingdom. You seem to be the only one to see the obvious corruption, and its up to you to dissolve this matter...

If you want to play the first installment of this 2-part series, then just go to my profile here on Newgrounds, or choose The Rise of a Knight from the drop-down menu on this page.

"Kinda boreing......"

was good but after the first few seconds I was just looking for ways to get out of the castle.

Author's Response:

I definitely should have made the beginning of the game move faster towards the action. Sorry it got a bit boring, but once you make it out of the caslte you can go anywhere you want and the game's pace picks up. Still, thanks for the eight and for not voting unfairly.

Nice but not for me. I found that I was always dieing and the combat was too hard. For some strange reason I just felt really depressed and had suicidal thoughts while playing. Odd. Anyway time to go play some more FPS.

Author's Response:

This is game is probably not for everyone. You just have to time your attacks and get to know the enemies, then you won't have much of a problem playing this game... thanks for not voting unfairly even though this game is not for you. Enjoy taking your frustration out with a nice FPS :)

"Great Game"

Awesome game, it was a step up from the rise of a knight. 3 things I don't really like is that: (a) every single blacksmith and wizard sells the same things. Try to even them all out to have different gear instead of having some piss poor blacksmith in the middle of nowhere selling a devastating weapon.

(b) I don't really like the names of the games. I mean they are quite cool, but your giving away the twist in the story. The first game was called rise of a knight and at the end of that you become a knight. So if this one is called the rise of a king then it means you become a king. But there is already a king so that means he has to die for you to become king. And there you go. I have already found a twist in the name alone.

(c) What happened to the troll?!? He was a giant hulking monster in the first one, but now he looks like a muppet thats been left in a washing machine. There is not even a reason to it, it just happens!

Well, those are the three problems, but by this point, i am just looking for faults in the game. Besides, it is still very fun to play.

P.S: Thanks for getting rid of those bloody spiders! They were really annoying.

Thanks for the great review!
The reason why all the blacksmiths sell the same stuff is because this was the first and only time I've ever made a "shop" in a game and it was doing my head in. I agree that different shops should sell different things, that would have made it much better. I'll remedy that in future games...

Sorry if you didnt like the name of the two games, I like them even though they give away the endings. I think it's the journey that counts, haha :) Oh, and the troll, well, I dunno... I wanted to draw a different one and ended up with a washed-out muppet :)

Thanks again for the review and the ten!

"Very fun."

Did enjoy. Only complaint: Save points. Needs more. Other than that it's great.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I agree about the save points. This was the first time I've ever done any kind of saving system in a game and I didn't know how to make more, but I think I'll be able to remedy that in future games...
