Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.

Hey! I thought that I wasn't going to do another tutorial, but with a little motivation from Joeyag, I did! In this tutorial you'll learn how to:

- Flag the right reviews.
- Get abusive reviews quickly.
- Know what reviews are classed as abusive.
- And maybe even, get a deity whistle!

This tutorial features the great song, Animal I've Become by Three Days Grace!

I'd just like to thank IngramJ and tigerkitty for there useful information on what else to flag! If you enjoyed the tutorial or it helped you, please comment and vote 5!

P.S. I've made the tutorials height smaller, because I felt that I didn't need all that room that I had in the previous tutorials!

Note: Don't bother trying to be funny or sarcastic in your review, it will only get deleted.

Reviews

Nothing here that couldn't just be a BBS post.

The spinning bg does add visual interest, but also makes it harder to read. The music is similarly pointless and doesn't actually add anything to the 'tutorial' itself.

You could have clarified some things by pointing out the relevant review rule or showing an example of a review that would be abusive.

For 'repeating pattern', it would've been more meaningful if you'd just called it spam, or whatever the rules call it. No need to lumber us with additional terminology.

And most egregiously, you didn't even link to the Wi/Ht thread about abusive reviews!

I'm glad you at least had a sound on/off button, the back/next buttons work well enough and the info here does seem to be sensible. For those too lazy to search through the BBS, this might be of some benefit.

I just think it should have done more to merit being a flash rather than just a post.

Now I can get my whistle back to normal :P

This guide's just here to help people with a low whistle.

It's very basic, the layout to this is also very basic. There is really only text to look at, no pictures or anything, the background is always moving which in my opinion distracts someone from reading the text. So keep with a solid background to start with. The fact that the music can be turned on and off is actually a good idea, so that's one good thing about this.

As with the content of the flash, it doesn't really say anything new, there are many flash that have told what this tells in a much more fun way and more entertaining. Try to add something the people can actually do, such as a quiz at the end or other fun things, some animation even. Overall, it could do with much work in actually presenting it to people.

I appreciate that NG authors present Flash like this to promote better standards. The author did present some useful information on the subject. However, I felt it lacked for substance and organization.

The author could have provided examples of proper and inappropriate uses of the whistle. Some screenshots would also have added color and visual interest to the pages.

The author's message is divided between pages, similar to a PowerPoint presentation, and navigated through two clickable links at the bottom of the page. Though this method was used consistently, the flash could've allowed the space bar or arrow keys to control navigation as well.

The author could improve organization with summary or overview pages. A page number display, like "page 5 of 11" along the bottom, would notify the reader of how much left there was to read.

One thing the author wrote surprised me, that a review that says a flash was stolen should be marked abusive, even if that was true. I hadn't known that was considered abusive use of reviews before, and I'm still not sure why that would be so.
