No no no, there is a cure. And, there is a difference between Tinnitus, and deafness.

Deafness is the result of damage to the ear drum, and the working mechanisims within the ear. Tinnitus, is the result of damage to the micro hairs within the ear.

here's a stupid little picture of how this works. When the hairs in the ear are damaged, they become bent, or twisted, much like a broken bone. The ringing you hear, is the thousands of hairs, trying to bend themselves back into shape, so they can preform their task of protecting the ear drum.

Supplementing vitamins, can increase the rate of healing, and protect your ears from further damage.

That sucks balls. I have a problem with my eyes. My eye doctor told me they're irregularly shaped, sorta like ovals, and this has caused the tissue around it to tear, so I may need surgery if the tearing gets worse.

Well, thank you all for your sympathy. I really apprieciate it. I suppose i'm lucky that i'm not completly deaf. It's really not all that bad. I can live a normal lifesyle, but the word "what", and "huh?", are used more often on a daily basis. lol.

I have a busted left ear drum, but I can hear perfectly out of it. It hears better than the right, infact. I get squealing in both of them frequently, though

Good question. Yes i can hear certain sounds perfectly fine. Such as instruments, loud music, etc. With my condition, the only thing that is distorted, is the sound of people talking. For instance, you and someone are standing 5 feet apart, when the person talks, to me it sounds like they are 15 feet away.

I too had an ear infection or virus when I was young that took away my hearing. I have about a 30% loss in my left ear, but I don't know in what ranges. After years of annual tests they concluded that my hearing wasn't getting worse. Sorry to hear that dude, but I think girls dig half-deaf people.

I am completely deaf. I have a Cochlear Implant, it allows me to hear almost perfect, its amazing. Look it up, find out about it and see how cool it is.
