Tried my hand at it... didn't turn out too bad, I don't think. Although what I noticed about fire-arms is the level of detail needed to accurately portray them. It's hard to "estimate" them using cartoony drawing style without using a lot of lines. And the thickness of line used on a lot of the current level icons just doesn't work with guns.

I'm prepared to be flamed out of my mind, but a pokeball icon would be funny.

Also, a wiimote, or a gameboy or something.

They are part traced from actual objects, part drawn based on pictures of different angled shots of the objects. For instance, the folding chair was done from scratch based on several shots from several different angles. While the hand-gun I just posted was patrially traced from a photo of a Desert Eagle with the chamber opened, and partially drawn based on the rest of that shot and others to piece it back together closed. Only in the instance that I've liked the angle of a particular shot of the object did I even utilize any part of it directly. And the coloring and shading are done by me after I get the lines down.

The ones in the original post actually do have a bit thicker line than is portrayed... the BBS re-sized the image I uploaded due to width restrictions. The full size of each can be seen ion the news post I have up on my user page right now... and those do look a bit better.

Nice job on the icons, especially the guitar one. I'm actually pretty surprised Newgrounds dosnt have the guitar or the folding chair. One suggestion for you though is if you are looking for a way to make an icon more exciting, put a lil bit of blood splatter on it, not over the top but just enough to add some color. (bloody pitchfork would kick ass)
