So to me this thread is another prime example of a good idea gone to the dogs. As it stands now, this is just another audio advertisements thread (mind you, at least here people post reasonably well written bios and explanations of their work). Just wanting to know how we could shape this thread up a bit

What I mean is, there's a reason why people who nominate themselves don't get attention. Cause they suck. So I checked out some of the people who nominated themselves, and all it is is one instrument and a drum. That's music? Fuck that.

You guys want REAL music?

How to fix this thread? Simple. Don't allow people to nominate themselves. Furthermore, require that, once someone is nominated, other people have to second the nomination to prevent someone from using an alt. Of course if someone nominates an artist who is clearly crap, then it makes it all the more obvious that its an alt and they should be banned from the BBS anyway. Poof, problem solved.

Hello,i am an amateur at making music, and am currently working at six new songs to release in a bundle. I use garageband, mainly because i am to lazy to either learn how to get logic studio for my mac free, or to learn anything else. I do not use ANY preset loops and i am technofanatic.

Another guy worthy of being checked out is Calamaistr. Now, I know several of you APers out there can be pretty off-put on his overstated and brash opinions on music, but I think at the very least a lot of his songs are interesting and unique that at LEAST warrants some listening, especially if you are sick of the ho-hum generic 8-bit music that doesn't try or other songs of that nature.

Ahh your to kind, i do have a major shortage on reviews ;(

well right back to you btw, people should check out your music sometime too.

Says one of the guys that nominated himself.

The whole idea of this thread was for people to nominate people that deserve more attention, not to assume you, yourself, are worthy of more attention. Leave that for the others to decide.

I'll nominate myself. I've posted upwards of 40 songs on Newgrounds to this day (and I'm about to post another). I don't get much attention though; I don't think I'm a great artist, but I do think I'm improving.

I've been doing music for almost two years now, and I write a lot of things for short films and freebie games. Sometimes my work gets a little attention, but most of the time, I'm just another faceless NGer.

crap.. i forgot about the ''something about yourself" part... anyway, i am 21 and go to college. I go by dopedgod and have been playing guitar for about 2 years now. Even though its nothing compared to a lot of musicians here, i think i am not bad, if not alright. I played with 2 bands before the current one i am in, but the whole punk, rock 'n roll scene got old for me. So I started playing with the people i play with now and formed Radio for the Daydreamers, sharing the sad knowledge with my band that most of our post-teenage years have just been a haze or a Daydream. We realized that when we listen to music, we dont just listen to one genre. I am more ambient rock (radiohead, pink floyd), post-rock(a silver Mt. Zion) and metal (meshuggah, opeth) oriented, while other members of the band range from jazz, hip-hop, classical, Indian folk and others. So we decided to not worry about what genre we belonged to as long as we enjoyed making music... this band is an attempt to take elements from post-rock, dark dissonant noise rock, and mix it with elements from gorillaz, jazz, and tool...
that might've been too long, but i just wanted to tell everything i could at this point...

Dang, looked like this would almost be a page with no self nominations... oh well.

Self nominations are just sad really. There is an audio advertisements thread, and thats where that sorta thing should be done. Doing it here really does just look desperate, and makes me for one, NOT want to go and check out that persons stuff.

I'd like to nominate:

Neurotangent

He's improved a lot from when he first joined, and writes in what I feel is a recognizable style of his. He writes down tempo ambient and is worth a listen if that's within a genre realm one likes.

I personally think that I am an underrated music artist here on Newgrounds. My muisc isn't perfect, but I believe that it deserves more credit than it has received. It's just that every time I post a song, I start to get good ratings and then one "zero bomber" will absolutely demolish my score and it never goes back up. I've had a song on the front page before and I'm pretty sure I've only improved since that song. I wish people wouldn't "zero bomb." :(

He is an awesome musician and doesn't really get much attention. He really disserves it though.

He does chiptune music. Listen to it and admire his work.
