Best insult I've heard up to date.

Also, I am totally going to see the movie now.

I really don't give a shit about it at all. The only thing I wanted to see was the monster, and there is no good image of it anywhere on the Internet.
This sucks balls. And by the time I do see it, I'll have lost interest.

What?

At the end of the credits it says It's still alive backwards.
Here's the actual audio at the end of the credits. Obviously, it's going to sound like gibberish since it's meant to be heard backwards.

Also, the flaming hobos in the tunnels was hilarious.

It was a good movie. I'm not much a fan of the constant shaky camera, but still good.

I just got back from seeing it. Interesting movie, but kinda shitty ending. It was pretty intense at times because I was hella blazed haha. It made it seem much more real.

Why is it that a man can't hold another man's scrotum in the palm of his hand (as an act of friendship) without risking being called a member of the homosexual community?

I looked around and couldn't find the clip anywhere. A bunch of people have mentioned it online though.

Also, you can't be sure it was actually the alien that was falling and coming from space. It could be some random meteor that hit the monster which was taking a 10,000,000,000 year nap. I mean, if I got hit on the head and was woken up from my 10,000,000,000 year nap, I would be pissed off and destroy New York as well.

My god, this movie is intense!

Seen it earlier today.
I watched it in a fairly new theater with great sound. It shook the fuck out of everyone there!
The ending wasn't too bad but throughout the whole first 20 minutes or so I was sitting there wondering when the monster would show up. But that wasn't so bad either since it kind of added to the intensity.

Great movie. Probably gonna see this one again real soon.

Just saw it and I thought it was good. I kept getting distracted and trying to oicture the movie through a third person perspective. I loved the scenes where theyrun into the subway and when Hud gets chomped.

Does anyone else think the monsters look like the Chimera from Resistance Fall of Man. The little parasites look exactly like an enemy in the game, and the actual monster looks like something that would be in there.

Teddy doesn't get mentioned, but during the party you can clearly see Jamie passed out on the couch.

ROB was the main character Enoll, not Jamie.

This movie was s fucking awesome, I couldn't believe my eyes.

The only thing that annoyed me was that it didn't give us, the people who've been following the updates and such, anything except Jamie on the couch, and Hawk (they don't even call him that!) was wearing a Slusho! shirt.

But I think the story will continue online for us. Let us know what happens after :)

it sounds like he's actaully saying "is it still alive" at the end of the movie, not "it's still alive" like most claim he says.

the last words backwards

Response to Cloverfield seen (spoilers) 2008-01-20 21:35:48

The ending to that movie was such a disappointment that I couldn't believe it. I was so upset with the ending because you don't find out what happens. I would've been happier knowing that more of those monsters came and fucked up the whole world, but there was no information what so ever at the end. Just click...movie went off.

All in all, I loved it and I'll probably end up seeing it again.

Please tell me you loved the beginning.

It was by far my favorite part because i've been in such an environment before and everything they were saying was creepily realistic.

Dammit Hud :'(

That monster's got some damn good eyesight, I gotta say. Poor Hud...jackass or no, he was starting to grow on me. Pretty damned nasty way to go, even from those circumstances.

seriously, with all the damned parasites running around, and all the falling helicopters and jerplanes (a few of which they were IN), he gets eaten by the Head Honcho.

Anyhow, in case anyone was wondering (I know I was, 'till I actually stopped and concentrated on it for a few seconds), Marlena's stomach simply exploded.

No, the Army didn't shoot her behind that tarp, fearing some monstrous transformation. No, she wasn't belching blood, before mutating into some hideous form. She just blew up, poor girl. Like the dead army dude they had laid out on that stretcher, rolling by the rest of the group. Kinda wish she'd let Hud get his ass bitten (then, perhaps, we could have at least found out "where they wanted to drag him") and then snatched the camera from him before he got completely mauled to death.

Maybe she would have been bright enough to duck under that downed chopper, before the Monster had actually settled itself exactly above her (I mean, COME ON dude, it isn't exactly a stealth-like creature, ffs...), for example.

Ah well.

Anyhow, spectacular movie, all things considered...though the ending sucked to high heaven, in my opinion.

I mean, come on! The second "half" was about a quarter of the first! And, of course, we've got no f'ing idea what happens later on (which, I'm starting to think, may just be a good reason for them to come up with a sequel).

How hard would it have been just to add a second live-recording of what happens in Manhattan, perhaps of someone that doesn't get mauled, eaten or bombed to smitherines? To see if the monster survived, perhaps? And if it did, where it's headed? Did they actually end up eliminating the entire city, or not?

And is there a shrivel of a chance that those two poor jerks under the Central Park bridge managed to survive (considering the fact that the damned camera wasn't blown to heck)?

Argh.

So, insanely awesome and thrilling movie, just about until it hits the credits. Which was the part where you'll be telling yourself that it just can't end like that, and it must be a videocam malfunction of some sort, and you've yet to see the real ending. Then, it ends. You swear, you cuss, and leave the room angry.

Pure awesomeness. You must read it.

I went to see this on wednesday with a friend, and we both thought it was brilliant - really well done.
We were debating on the way home if there was a connection between the earthquake and the oil tanker capsizing, and also if either of those were related to the monster/
Well, obviously there's some connection, but this is what we debated:
Did the earthquake cause the monster, or the monster cause the earthquake?
Did the monster cause the tanker to capsize? Maybe the monster was on the tanker. This raised a question that the monster is fucking huge, but then - so are some tankers.
Maybe the monster was released during the earthquake (from somewhere in the narbour) and capsized the tanker when it surfaced.
What do you guys think?

At the end of the film it says "Help us", this played backwars it says "Its still alive".
Awesome no?

On the part right before the credits (on the ferris wheel) in the background you see the monster's head rise out of the water.

Damn, missed that part.

I loved the movie, the way it was made was excellent, taking the Blair Witch formula to an entirely different level. The atmosphere and fear shown by the characters really dragged you into the experience much better than a 3rd person angle would have done. I suspect the movie would have been generic and boring without the camera twist to it.

As for not revealing anything, I've heard rumour that it has been designed as a trilogy, and therefore more questions will be answered in the future. What I want to know is how they go about doing that. Do they run through the same time period from a different person's perspective (say someone in the military or a scientist/medic), or do they carry on from where that part left off, maybe answering if the monster was killed, if there are more of them, and where it came from?
