That's stupid why would you want them to remove it? And you whole-heartedly disagree with me, there is no turning back on that.
If you read the whole post I said it's pointless to take away the sign up date, or post count. You like many others just failed to read the entire post I am guessing.
Those who compare petty s%^& like that usually arent worth listening to anyways.

You are wise beyond your post count my friend.

Um, you do know removing those things you speak of, would just motivate those people to make fun of other things they can find...Sorry but I find you stupid to make a petition for these things.

I agree.
I will not sign. We will only bee able to tell noobs by their posts.
No.
If the administration removes the sign-up dates and post count, they also might as well do away with the experience/level system, the whistle rankings, and all of the other stats and points associated with your profile. On the forum, sign-up date and post count are a better indicator of community status than any of these other things, anyway.
I am not responsible for the content of the post above.
I'd like to think that I have a decent sized e-penis.
Sign up date is needed, to show who is new and has no fucking idea what they are talking about, some damn '07, so if they be a spammer you can just blame it on the year. And to see that just because someone is level 5, doesn't mean there new, thats where the sign up date comes in handy.
And the BBS post number... Why the fuck would you want THAT deleted? That is NEEDED on here, it's the BBS, people want to know who is best.
So no, we will keep them both thank you.

And that is why I said don't change anything. The point of the topic was intended to start a discussion on the things people use to compare themselves which has happened a little. There was also a good point brought up about simply resetting the stats and seeing what would happen. Thank you though for quoting me and then restating what i was talking about more clearly. You picked up exactly what I was saying.
Post count is just as bad, they should do away with that.
I actually wouldn't mind the admins removing the sign-up date, mainly because I don't care enough to look and judge people based on it. I only judge people by their posting habits by clicking 'Posts' where their username is.
I disagree on removing level icons, though. I recognize everyone first off by their aura and level. For example, if I go and see a level 19er with an evil aura, I can usually guess that it's Sunglasses without looking at the username.

Wrong thread, my bad
I feel removing the sign-up date, post count, lvl, etc. could have a positive impact on the BBS. It would give everyone a fair chance at not sucking. People can't help but judge people based on their appearances so on a forum your appearance is those stats. On the other side it is also taking away a part of a users identity and one of the best parts about newgrounds is the ability to create that identity. By looking at a profile you learn what the user does most on the site blams and protects says they view a lot of new content, reviews show the type of content they view be it audio, or flash, sigs allow people to give a little space for people to promote themselves. I guess the real question is.:
Is there a way to create a community where users can have their identity and status without creating a hierarchy in which users are put down by others based on obscure statistics that are not a reflection of themselves?

No - people will find something/anything to compare themselves to others. If it isn't sign-up date, its post count. If it isn't post count, its level. Not level? Then age, location, amount of PMs, amount of flashes/audio, amount of 'portal buddies', etc.
People need to always know where they stand in any community - it gives them a sense of value. Sadly, on newgrounds - these comparisons turns ugly and are usually only brought out when critiquing another user.
Naw, that doesn't really work for me.
But I do not thing post count should be removed. It shows how experienced they are in the forums and how well they know the forums.

We probably are better off with people being put down because they have a low post count or early sign up date rather then what country or state they live in. You are probably right that people would belittle people based on a more personal level. People do already get made fun of because of their age it just isn't as prevalent because it's not put on the forum page. Maybe the stats should be tracked just not put on the forum pages.
