I think this will be very helpfull for children to learn new things. The features look great to help them develop intelectually. I'm also glad to see wikipedia in there. I go there daily to look up things.
The fact that it runs on linux is in my opinion a good step towards opensource development and a logical choice of OS.

Are you sure they aren't just paying you to advertise this shit on you website? When that $400 went out of your bank account, did $500 mysteriously come back? This is utter crap, what with all the organisations that supply 'developing nations' with necessidies you support one that gives them fucking laptops? What about an organisation that supplies sick kids with medication, villages with clean running water, or even food for fucks sake. Not laptops. I simply choose not to believe that you are supporting this cause and not receiving something in return.

It runs basic games (tetris and connect four) and the battery can be charged via a solar panel or a crank. All the software can be edited and restored by the user. It features a camera, microphone, speakers, USB ports and audio jacks.

Don't forget about how it's water and sand proof and has a touch screen. Also, I've been told that it doesn't have glare. That's just awesome.

Let me get this straight, we are going to donate computers to children who are straving and lack medical care?

Who wants to bet these things are going to end up in a pawn shop for some quick dough or get burned in a bonfire so the kids can get the gold outa of the electronics?

yeah education isnt important. Lets give them food and medication while neglecting their capacity to actually fix the root of the problem, which is their inability to produce shit on their own. that way their lack of medicine and food can remain a vicious cycle and we can keep giving them food and medicine til the end of the fucking earth.

Perhaps the amount you donate covers two laptops.

Yeah, only half the cost is tax-deductable. Basically, they know that regular people want to try out the laptops, so they are forcing you to donate one in order to buy one for yourself. I have a feeling they will be more available in the future, but I thought it would be nice to donate one anyway.

However, money and food don't get to them very well in many of these African nations, due to oppression from the governments, military, and other groups.

Maybe they'll make a Flash game and get it sponsored so they can buy LOTS of food.

Even on the nicer distributions, flash doesn't run particularly well.

It has already been noted to have Flash support, it's just a question of how well... That's what I wanna find out.

If I had the money, I'd gladly donate one. Recieving a laptop would just be a plus, actually -- though I would have tried to get one for myself regardless. I really want to see how it works.
