Yeesh! I've lived in developing countrys my whole life (which may not be long but who cares) and each one has had about 50% Rich people, 30% percent middle-class (who afford the internet) and the rest poor. Jeeze, you think everywhere but the first-world is a old-fashioned technological wasteland!

I thought you were running some giant fund-drive. and we'd have a nice Africa-themed header, and everyone would be required to donate $300 or something.

But no, it's just a sweet way to get a cool laptop, and help starving kids in Africa at the same time.

But can Newgrounds connect to Africa? I know you can in North Africa, but what about south and central?

surely they want houses, food, water, more schools. I can't see how a laptop is going to help them at the moment.

I dont know about helpful to the child that gets one of these laptops but I bet you can write the donation off your taxes :P

Giving them more food and shelter will help them a lot, but they'd still be stuck in the same mess 20 years from now. These laptops are to help them learn how to develop so that they won't be in this mess later on.

Each of these laptops could be shared among 10-15 people for an hour each, and within a month they'll each learn how to make the community better. One'll be better at constructing homes, one might learn how to domesticate local animals to help around town, one could use his new knowledge to find or make better sources of food, or better organize and govern the community to work together.

Within a year a handful of these laptops could do a hell of a lot more than food, even if it costs a few lives at first.

Africa normally isn't screwed with hunger shelter and stuff, tha guys lived pretty well and happy
okay maybe not that civelised, but than the white guys came, screwed them took their gold, diaments...
and even people (as slaves): everything they needed to be rich and well.

I vote Newgrounds collects a massive amount of donations from users and donates with a Group Donation.

That could be a huge boost to Newgrounds' popularity.

We'd need at least 100. Right now I could buy at most 3 at $200 each, but if I place the upcoming MaxGames contest, I could put another 5-20 in there (depending on the place). We should have no problem getting 200+.

lets say your average laptop costs around $1000 (just an estimate there was no reasearch involved so don't give me crap abou this price). Now an average 3 bedroom house costs about $350,000. thats 350 times more than a laptop. Even if you remove most of the room, plumbing, heating, and cooling yous still be atleast 10 times mor than a laptop

I'd rather see the money go towards food and shelter for those kids.
