The "u" with the line over it is the original Japanese rendering, it merely symbolizes it is to be pronounced as if it has two "u"s. Hence "Nyuu" is an acceptable spelling.
That still has no relevance. A u with a macron can just as easily be described as pronouncing it as "u" than "uu". It's the same fucking thing. Now then tell me the japanese vowel set. i = long e, a = short a, o = long o, u = long u. ALWAYS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Nyu would be pronounced nyoo, nyu with the macron would be the same during transliteration. It is Nyu, Nyuu, or Nyu [macron]. All work, no one is wrong.
