Gods, is it normal to start halucinating 40k movies whenever hearing a certain catchy?

One last note on the IG regiments of back then, before moving on. Each regiment had it's own look and feel, a nice recognisable presentation.

Praetorians = Colonial British infantry (Pip! Orks on the ridge! Sergeant, give them a volley! Aye sar!)
Valhallans = Siberian WWII Infantry (So Stalin was evil and so is Bush, but the Siberian Infantry regiments remain the elite of WWII for not only kicking the Japanese, but also those Krautz into a bloody pulp!)
Cadians = (Most people say modern US infantry, but I don't!) Either modern infantry or WWII based infantry of any army
Tallarn = Arabian raiders (Not the evil guys, but those that helped Lawrence of Arabia!)
Catachans = AMERICANS! Redneck steroid pumping inbred Stallone clones! With the big knives that include a compas, fishing kit and a cute Hello Kitty bracelet!
Mordians = Ze Germans? (Much like the Praetorians, only these guys aren't up for tea and scones...)
Steel Legion = German WWII Mechanized Infantry (Gasmasks say more then enough, plus their officers look sinsister with those skull masks)
Death Korps of Krieg = Seeing as these are fanatical do or die troops, I'd throw them in the same lot as the SS of nazi germany. Plus, the Death Korps always gets the job done, one way or the other! (The Imperium is a copy of a certain evil Reich)
Tanith = Irish or Scottish (Whatever catches yer fancy, they've got the accents, what more do you need?)

+ + +

Paint is quite effective program for the creation of sprites, though it lacks the layering techniques, I can't live one day without my MS Paint!

Ah great, just what we need!

I'd like to have another Gmail account, seeing as with my last, I seem to have forgotten my password and those stupid idiots think that I also have a Yahoo! e-mail address. So yes please, sign me up.

BTW, does anybody know where I can get a sprited version of a piano? I've been thinking of doing a small movie myself including a piano, either a happy or sad tune and the words: THE END or TO BE CONTINUED... and some sprite (Ork Warboss, Cadian Officer, Space Marine or Imperial noble) playing the piano.

I've had a change of plan, i'm afraid my rents are closing down my Musane site and thus the hosting for all my flash work and the startup animation and hopeful library will dissapear in late january, so, unless somehow this crew gets their own domain, something i highly doubt is in the short-run, I suggest a gmail account used for the storage and collection of our .fla bits.

What I mean, is that we have an account we can all send emails to, with our premade components, then, the crew members can either request a suitable component from the account manager (Brookman) or we have a shared login?
Any thoughts, oh I have enough invites left to make an extra one for you too Brookman.

My apologies, I just don't like the current regime, but it won't happen again. I'm sorry for letting current events seep into this happy and joyful thread.

Again, my apologies

heh, with yet another zulu reference, i'm willing to forgive anything about that post!Just following up, i think the mordians are based more on british officer dress uniform. except for the colour that is. When we had a new captain instated during parade a few months back, he was dressed like a mordian, but in a commissar style jacket. It was the coolest tuesday night in years!

I don't know wether I should admit this or not, but I entered in Golden Demon Paris 2001 dressed as a commissar, I soon regretted it however, I've never been saluted by so many people in such a short time! Even the Staff did it, and don't get me started about when I had the bad fortune to run into an ork! (I have a pic!)

So would it be wise to still safe up money to get myself a Cadian officer uniform or would that be a one way ticket to the Emperor?

Any costume attainable is advised, as it makes the wearer invincible against the criticisms of other gamers. I.E. my first Gamesday, when me and my friends where sitting on the stadium seats. We saw a large gang of guardsmen hanging around the front stage (about 50 of 'em) with various ranks and regiments. A small child (obviously not in a stable state of mind) walked up to an officer and said 'The Imperial guard are rubbish'

You could hear the silence in the arena. everyone stared at what reaction this would get.

after what seemed an eternity of silence, a commissar leapt up, screaming 'Burn the heretic! Kill him! KILL HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM! BURN, BURN, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN!!!!!!!!!'
At which the little idiot boy ran for his life, chased by a mass of screaming guardsmen.

So costumes are a good thing!

lol, brings back memories of Golden Demon 2000 in Birmingham! there was a load of guardsmen up at the stage there too, one even had a tyranid's head on his banner pole!

man that sounds cool i wonder when the next event will be in america... i should get my dad to be a catachan veteran or somethin.... he would fit the part hes huge. I have a WWII german officer's cap and a military trenchcoat that would make a good commisar's costume but it would take alot of work...

so being the late night denzien i am i got the new space marine codex today and WD 299 i saw an interesting bit about what kind of music you listen to while playing 40k and got me thinking..... theres several songs ive thought about making a 40k flash with the soundgarden song "pretty noose" , or metallica's "Master of Puppets" or metallica's "For Whom the bell Tolls" i think the last one would be more appropriate for fantasy b/c the song has a medievil theme to it plus fantasy involves alot of cannon fodder which i envision getting slaughtered mercilessly by powerful daemons while the song mysteriously plays in the background ohh im so evil >:)

so whats your favorite music for 40k?

Response to Warhammer 40.000 Crew 2004-11-25 10:26:38

You can't go too far wrong with lots and lots and lots of Rammstein. 'Mien Tiel' sounds a lot like a burning galaxy. I sometimes put on some more classical stuff, big booming orchestral scores etc. Kinda depends on the game. Plus i listen too a lot of stuff while painting, drawing, doing flash, etc. for inspiration. Even a bit of darkness goes well when orks are around, though i don't know why...

Anyway, don't buy any of the actual Warhammer music albums. trust me, the sound of eternal devestation is NOT euro keyboard techno. I strongly reccomend Rammstein though. I dare someone to listen to 'Morganstern' without wanting to boltgun a few skulls!

Completed Dawn of war, and i didn't even have to use the force commander to wack the big gay demon. Just used 4 marine squads and a couple o' landraiders.

My new website is now running and can be searched for on google... Hurrah! so if anyone wants too see my picture of Seigg's supreme commander, it's on there somewhere.

Response to Warhammer 40.000 Crew 2004-11-25 11:28:49

Somebody has been listening to 'Reise Reise' a bit too much eh?

While Mein Teil ist sehr nice, it's kinda scary. (It's about that German cannibal that ate the other guy's... ehm, private parts) Rammstein is okay, it's just that whenever some guy wants to do a Krieg army, he always says thar Rammstein is their national anthem. Some good Rammstein tracks would be: Zanarkand Blitzball, Stein um Stein (mauer Ich dich ein!), Tier und Sonne.

I'd prefer orchestral plays, heavy on the brass and string. The old Waltz of the Damned still does the trick. As does the movie classic known as the Imperial March from star wars, which is still the play to use when emphasizing on power and glory through oppression and excssive use of force. For cheesy moments with over the top killing or violence, go for Drowning Pool - Bodies or Powerman 5000 - Worlds Collide. Special credits go Electrical Light Orchestra with Twilight and the New York Philharmonic with the Fall of Kharak for timeless music to fill moments or give a visual presentation.

Sounds Awesome! I got replica medals from the British War Museum in London to complete the look for me.

so whats your favorite music for 40k?

The Bourne Identity and Supremacy themes. Great Atmosphee and Rising Tension!
I agree with Rammstein however, but old latin music (think Carmina Burana style, NOT latin america style!) gives a great gothic cathederal style - Great for Imperial Fists originated Chapters or Very Devout chapters like mine (I modelled a shrine onto the landraider :D)

rammstein's mein teig is creepy! gave me the heebies jeebies....
anywahy i tried posting earlier but i had t ovalidate my account which meant my loooooooong post was gone!!!!!!1one!!!@33# so now i give you the condensed version:
im gonna take my dad and my little bro to games day next year and i might go as a commisar or IG officer and my father can go as a Deathworld veteran, and my little bro i have no clue as to what he would be (servitor lol) maybe a member of the Macharian Youth Corps

im also thinking about plans for a marvelously gothicly marvelous Imperial Landing Site for all Imperial vehicles and aircraft. if anyone has experience in these kind of endeavors, please help me? I have a graph paper outlining the basic structure but i want a gothic 40k feel to it.

warhammer is a tabletop game made by games workshop using dice, 25mm tall models, rulers, and sets of rules and charts. to begin, there are three lines of models that games workshop runs. theres Warhammer fantasy, Lord of the rings, and Warhammer 40,000. this club is dedicated to Warhammer 40k. (we are not into girly elves or drunken dwarves or goofy beastmen lol) Warhammer 40k is set in the 41st millenium, and humanity has spanned across galaxies underthe most beneficient and immortal Emperor. In the dark and bleak future, the emperor is a god to billions of humans in the universe. the imperium has many enemies such as Chaos, eldar (spaces elves), necrons (terminator like robots), the Tau(a young, technologically advanced race with a socialist like caste hiearchy[pics of them in my sig]) and orks(do i have to explain?) The heroes of the imperium include: Space Marines(Armoured super Humans), Imperial Guard (conscripted/drafted/volunteered corps of regular soldiers wielding laser weapons and LOTS of tanks[the lieutenant likes the IG]), Daemonhunters(specialized troops of the Ordos Malleus used to hunt the forces of chaos), and Witchhunters (forces hunting enemy psychics and heretics) to read up more on the wonderful world of Warhammer 40k, go to gamesworkshop.com and take the tour. if this piques yourr interest you are more than welcome into our club!

the Emperor guides us all

Ordo Malleus, what a thing to mention! Never mind the heresy! even Ordo Malleus really is the deep end of a pH 1 acidic pool! I learnt the Horus Heresy almost immediately from the rule book, Ordo Maleus is still being learnt and attempts being made to understand it!

Response to Warhammer 40.000 Crew 2004-11-26 17:27:49

i just wanted to sound smart....... i actually never knew much about the heresy until recently. i read a story by william king about the battle b/w the Emperor and Horus and read Index Astartes II about sanguinius. ive been wanting to do a model on sanguinius but i have no clue as to where to start. besides the wings and his flaming sword i have no other reference as to what he looked like. i infer he was a blonde b/c most of the blood angels chapter is blonde.

Response to Warhammer 40.000 Crew 2004-11-26 18:52:26

Yup, blond, tall with angel wings to boot! theres a diorama on page 32 of the old codex: Space Marines, also, several good references in Warhammer monthly, you could easily sub Dante for Sanguinius as there really is very little difference, just add robes and wings.
