On a serious note, i had a freaking excellent idea for a bytesize, but it's designed to loop over and over, like that I Hate Newground flash with all the groups saying they hate each other.

Is this possible or are looping animations not allowed?

I've just finished mine , sent it to Tom, and he asked me back for the FLA file.

Therefore if I can, you can aswell! Get your ass moving and make something!

There is actually an edit button in the administration section. ;) It only ever gets used to amend front page post typos, though.

I doubt it. If an animation looped, then nobody would see anybody else's work. Only that one animation. Bytesize is meant to be like a slideshow showcasing people's flashes.

One question: can an already prolific artist take a funny clip out of an existing flash, strip out anything memory-intensive, and submit it as a bytesize? I can think of more than a few hilarious quotes in the flashes that have been submitted over the years and I'd love to see some of them show up in bytesize.

You are welcome to submit them to your account after the release of Bytesize (until then, I prefer keeping them all secret, so it's more fun). However, it's also cool to keep them exclusive to Bytesize, but not required.

Sorry, looping won't work out with how the system works.

I prefer that the bytesize movies be friesh material but if you submit a funny exerpt from one of your own submissions, it would still be included if it's really good.

Damn it! I always find it hard to keep the size in the limits, even though there is a minimum amount of sound effects! It might be because all the movement and such in my animations.

Some ways I've used to minimize file size:

Avoid complicated animations with several movieclips within movieclips.
Avoid using bitmaps or other imported graphics.
keep sound compression down to 24kbps or lower.
When using repeat graphics/backgrounds, use symbols instead of mesh graphics.
If scaling down larger detailed graphics, might save a few KBs if redrawn smaller.

I am looking forward too. It seems pretty cool and nice to see that.

Bytesize was just a bunch of little NG ads if I remember correctly.

sounds like a great idea. i wasnt a member of NG back when the mini cartoons were made so i think its awesome
