Front Page News Peeves
There are a few things about the front page news that kind of peeves me. For one, artists posting that they released something seems so incredibly redundant on so many levels. For one, the portal gave them exposure. For another, if it was noteworthy it would appear on the frontpage or get an award and get on the front page anyway from P-bot's post... which will do much more for them anyway.

For another, people post random crap that is not even worth mentioning on the front page. Like a two sentence rant about something like potato chips or something.

Then as the finale of all of this, people who actually had something interesting to post about (like Luis's interview of Tom Fulp), get pushed off faster because of these people.

Anyone think that there needs to be moderation or heavier requirements for a front page post?

Well the moderation increase is a must but I still believe artists can promote their own work either way, even if they are getting exposure AND it is redundant XD. But seriously, those authors that aren't even mentioning their upcoming projects or other stuff affiliated with the site are just defeating the whole purpose of front page priveleges for AUTHORS, not random rants about how they cannot stand a franchise.

Still, its a million times better than when EVERYONE could front page post. I mean, most frontpage posts stay up about a good 2 days, and by then most people who are gonna see it, already have.

I think that only people with the same number of awards as me or higher should be able to post :P

Seriously though, I get your point. Maybe there should be some sort of approval or something needed before people actually post. Time limits don't really help, since they just make people want to find something random to post quickly so they can post again sooner.

I kind of like how organic it is.. how some days its like junk news and some it has interesting things. I think it feels more alive that way... it allows for other people to get on the soapbox.. like people i would have never bothered to look into... I'm tentative to jump to it being moderated or screened.

It's a testament to the fact that this is a USER CREATED SITE! Good for the majority popular artists. They'll always have good forms of exposure, but I don't get many mentions on NG. When I submit, it's a blip in a group of 50 some names. Even if only two people note my blog post on the front page, those are two more viewers. It's important that I have unbridled access to this. I have nothing much else.

Anyone ever use that shoutout thing anymore? It actually got me a fan once.

There was a pretty interesting and funny geek graph in a recent New York Times. They had it up because of the recent death of Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons. The graph isn't really about D&D though, it spans everything from that to Internets to Harry Potter. If you have a copy, check it out.

I'm putting together a little 'Newgrounds prize pack' for a contest i'm going to be hosting over at the art forum to add to the pico day shenanigans. I did about 2 years ago. I started growing out my hair. Unfortunately my hair has yet to grow past my shoulders cuz it's so curly, but i'll get there eventually.
