Not to continue busting the skydiving / collider conversation, but I was just customizing a Mac and a Dell simultaneously, and...GOD DAMN MACS COST A SHITLOAD! To upgrade from 4 to 8 GB on Ram for a Dell Studio XPS was + $500, while a mac was + $1,000. Overall it was something like $2,000 vs. $4,000. Shit-fuck-face-dick!!!

Newgrounds skydiving meet please :P

My University want 50% of any revenue made from my final year project. How fucking bullshit is that? Im paying £3000+ a year to get taught fuck all as it is, and now they want to take more of my damn money.

I can collaborate with anyone, so I wanted to do Penguinz 2, but they can suck my fucking balls if they think they are getting a penny from anything I make, especially that. It really really sucks, I just hope I can talk them into it :P

What do you guys think, am I just being greedy? I really have learnt very little on my course, and the Flash tutorials were laughable. I just wanted to blow them out the water with this one, surely its in their best interest to let me release it as long as they are getting some kind of credit?

You're treating photons as if they are conscious beings with words like 'know' =P

The size of photons and more importantly the molecular structure of glass allow for a large number of photons to pass through the gaps onto the other side. However, some do hit the glass, and so are reflected. Naturally, the thicker the glass, the more molecules each photon needs to 'dodge' in order to get to the other side, and so more will fail and be sent back.
It's all probability really.

My physics is rather sketchy, so I can't promise a right answer. But it looks good, right?

Also, that Uni sounds crappy for that, Jimp. Where do you go?

Doomsday-One, working on stuff better than preloaders.

By the way, I made the 'Create an Animated Sprite' preloader for Sprite TV 3!

This might be relevant to your question (it may seem odd, but bear with it). I've been wondering what you've mentioned aswell, photons obviously can't think but there must be some deciding factor, but as you said if each is individual so how is a certain percentage always reflected. I'll ask.

At 7/18/09 05:00 PM, Toast wrote: Maybe they'll manage to blast the nuclei (protons / nucleons) and separate the bosons that form them. That would lead to very interesting consequences, and although I'm not really sure what would happen, I think it's purely for advancing our knowledge in physics, not in creating new types of energy production.

Fusion technically produces more energy output than input, although thats because of the conversion of mass. Then again mass is effectively changed to energy in the collider, so the output could be bigger. But yeah, it wouldn't be practical, fusion is much more likely to happen, and that is still taking baby steps.

Check the legality of it. Tell them you want in writing why they believe they're entitled to ANY percentage of revenue.

If the game doesn't not have to be published to count as a grade, give them a version without ads and after the grading is complete, release the version with the ads.

Unless they're making you sign some sort of contract or agreement beforehand, they really have no right to profit from your intellectual material.

When you shine a light on a window, part of the light will be reflected back to you, which shows a faint reflection of the inside on the glass, and part of the light continues outside through the window which is why someone standing outside the house can see what's happening inside through the windows. Now that's easily understandable if you think of light as waves, but the strangest thing is that it's made of particles (photons), and that some of them are reflected not when they reach the end of the window, but on immidiate contact with the window glass. How does each individual photon know whether to be reflected or not? And if it is reflected, how does he know to reflect on contact with the mirror as if it already knows the thickness of the window? (thicker windows means more photons are reflected)

I'm afraid this has nothing to do with quantum physics, and is actually just a matter of the critical angle between air and glass - the angle at which light no longer is refracted, but starts getting reflected.

I'm pretty sure, the reason why some light is refracted, and some is reflected is purely because glass isn't smooth. It looks at feels smooth, but if you go down to a microscopic level, the surface will appear quite rough. When light reaches the glass, most of it is at an angle less than the critical angle and so just goes straight through. However, some of the light hits the glass at a larger angle (due to the small imperfections in the glass) and so instead of being refracted, it is reflected back to you so you see your reflection.

The light has two different places it could be reflected - entering the glass, and exiting it.

As for why more photons are reflected by thicker windows, i can't say i have ever noticed this happening. I can't see any reason why it would happen. Could you give an example of when you might see this happening?

Where are you making it? I've always been under the impression that if you're using their equipment in their time it's theirs. For example, if Stamper were to make some super awesome game whilst he was working at the Newgrounds office, Newgrounds would legally have ownership of it because it was on their time.

That may apply to working for a company, as they're paying you to be there so technically they could say you're stealing time and therefore money from them, or that you produced something while on their dime.

A school is tough though. Technically, you're hiring them (and they are providing the service of teaching you, and supplying you with a place to work)... not the other way around, so I'm not sure how it would work in that scenario.

Are there any good shows on CN anymore? I do admit I like chowder because of it's subtle old pop culture and adult refrences. But I don't think anyone else likes it.

CN real is just a bunch of anouying preteens acting like douches.

Man! this looks like soo much fun! As a matter of fact i had a crazy dream about dying earlier, these pics reminded me of it. Went like this:

watched my friend get ejected out of a convertible with a rocket on his back, he flew up a bajillion feet with this rocket and he was happy. So i walked over to my girlfriend and said "see that bright light! thats blair up there... i'm going to do it now" (even though he did it cuz he was going to die if he didnt, i just did it for fun)

So i got in a car with a sunroof with a giant balloon, i was hanging onto the balloon string and jumped out of the sunroof, it started lifting me higher and my hands started slipping and i was like "SHIIT!" and i was going to let go but i didn't wanna drop and fall and die, so i held on and went higher.

Then i woke up with my arms above my head grabbing onto my pillow...

Cartoon Network

They used to have loads of good shows, Dexters Lab was my favorite, though we don't have sky anymore. They've gone down a lot from what i hear, lots of shows that are practically the same with different art.

Skydiving

Looks awesome, gonna have to try and persuade someone to do that sometime. Make sure to post the vid if you get it up Duder.
