Hello Everyone!
THE CONCEPT
You will design a video game cover for a fake video game of your choosing. Then, you will animate a short video of that game being played. Simple enough, right?
CHOOSING A GAME
First, you must choose a video game to parody. You can either choose from the suggestions in the parts list or think of your own.
MAKING THE COVER
Next, you must create a video game cover for your fake video game. This is just a static image with no animation. Feel free to make this part in Photoshop, if you have it. It is advised that the cover you make is a parody of the original game's cover, but this will not be enforced.
The cover must include:
- The name of the game
- The console it is being played on. You can either use a real console or make up your own. (e.g. YCube Suck60)
- An ESRB Rating. Once again, you can use a real rating or make up your own. (e.g. "L" for Losers)
- The company/ies who created it. Once again, use a real one or make up your own. (e.g. "Noobisoft")
- A well-designed picture promoting the game
CREATING YOUR GAME
Once you come up with an idea and create your cover, you are ready to make the animation. Now, here is where you can get really creative with things. I won't put any specific rules regarding the content of your animation. It must simply portray your game. You can choose from any of the options below, or come up with your own idea.
Choose ONE of the following
- Animate the game being played
- Make a trailer or preview for the game
- Animate the game being played, then involve the viewer in some way. I am willing to program anything you need. This means you can prompt the viewer to press buttons, drag things, shoot at things, etc. The bulk of it must still be animation, however. See below for more information about asking me for programming help.
- Parody the game using Egoraptor-style animation (insane voices, extreme randomness, etc.)
- Animate the game in your own way
The animation must be between ten and thirty seconds long. (10 - 30s)
DO YOU NEED A PROGRAMMER?
I am willing to program anything you need. This includes buttons, keyboard events, particle effects, or anything else you may think of.
Of course, if you can either program yourself or you know a programmer you'd like to use, that's fine, too. If you choose not to use me as your programmer, make sure whoever programs for you practices good programming habits. If you're using someone else, please contact me first so I can approve them for you.

FILE SPECS
- AS2 File Format
- 25 FPS
- Dimensions 700 x 400
- Flash CS4 or lower file format
- .FLA must be under 150 MB (150,000 KB)
- Stage Color: White (Make your own)
RULES
Failure to adhere to the following guidelines will result in the rejection of your part. Additionally, I have the right to reject any submission at any time for any reason.
- Label all MovieClips with your name in front of them. (e.g. "Archon68_House_Door")
- DO NOT use gibberish to name your MovieClips
- Label All MovieClips according to their contents. This means if you have a door inside of a house, you must name it as "YourName_House_Door", rather than "hgkas", "DoorHouse", "Door", or "Symbol 1".
- Put your entire submission into its own MovieClip, labelled as follows:
"YourName_GameCollab_GameName"
- Put ALL SOUNDS on their own layer.
- Set the event type of ALL SOUNDS to "Stream".
- DO NOT attempt to control the main timeline with any ActionScript you may have. If you are using any code for any reason, use a relative scope rather than a global one. (e.g. _parent.ball._x++;)
- Include your Game Cover in the FIRST FRAME of the MAIN TIMELINE in your .FLA file.
- Include your Game Animation in the SECOND FRAME of the MAIN TIMELINE in your .FLA file.
- Absolutely NO SPRITES ALLOWED. Pixel art is fine, though. IT MUST BE MADE BY YOU.
SENDING YOUR PART
1) When you are finished, upload both a .SWF of your part and the .FLA of your part to either Dumping Grounds or SpamTheWeb.
2) Post the link to the .SWF file of your part in this thread.
3) PM me (Archon68) with a link to the .FLA.
