What pages have you been reading. In this thread, there are now 68 replies (including this one) and there have been only five complaints about it that I've noted (including the 2 from you).

i was actually expecting this sort of... now wheres the emo page?

To balance one's oneness. Everyone is you but to be immersed we must lie to ourselves and think we are separate, just enough to put on a show for us, by us, with us, forever.

There's acually some cool stuff in there, even though I'm not goth.

Response to Goth collection! 2006-01-16 21:50:54

I'm not sure. Salad Fingers doesn't really seem...goth to me. Just morbid and some may say disturbing. I wouldn't really know about goth, but from the outside it looks to be more of dark and gloomy with a touch of noir.

I guess it could go either way. You could just make a disturbing or morbid collection to cover all things creepy, disturbing, or dreary.

I'm not conceited...I'm convinced.

Also, I like to use ellipses.......a lot...

Response to Goth collection! 2006-01-17 00:21:54

shouldn't this be in there too? I wouldn't really know but it kinda seems goth. I know it is more emo and there are plenty of emo submissions, maybe an emo page would work too.

sorry if this has been posted before

I know exactly where youre coming from, tom. I also have lots of goth friends.
Anything that would have Goth appeal would probably be:
*Salad Fingers or anything else by Dave Firth. (the guys disturbing...)
*Foamy. 'dem goths love themselves their foamy.
*Lilium

other things with that sort of setting might be wise additions.

No offense, even though "Smile!" IS one of my favorite shorts on all of NG, I don't see why you consider it goth.

Well, it wasn't exactly necessary, but now that you have put it up, i wouldn't say that it was in vain :) Good work.

In other news... Dan Paladin is coming to town this week, as are the Behemoth crew (John, Scott and Emil) from San Diego!

Emil? EMIL? That's my name :O

Is he Swedish or something? ^^

What kind of office has an apartment on the first floor? Because that's sweet, you can live there while you work :)

are they just coming over temporarily or is the behemoth crew moving over to your offices? it's pretty insane just to think that you've got an east coast and west coast office, even if they're two companies (that being said, you've got TWO COMPANIES dude). Totally hot.

Salad fingers doesn't fit... but some other of Firth's flashes do:
Roof Tiling - The first
B/W Cartoon About Berries - The prequel

I love that series...

Spoilsbury Toast Boy
Spoilsbury Toast Boy - 1
Spoilsbury Toast Boy -2

Oh, i'm glad to see Cold Tap in that one :D

I'm not a goth, but perhaps Kol-Belov's flashes should be included? "Bankomat" (just released), "Objectionable Apparatus" and "Pustota", plus some other ones.

Although perhaps they count more as "dark" flashes than as "goth" flashes. I really don't know.

Seriously, what is the difference between goth and emo?

At 1/17/06 06:59 AM, Esn wrote: Seriously, what is the difference between goth and emo?

Wikipedia.com sez:

Goth is a modern subculture that first became popular during the early 1980s within the gothic rock scene, a sub-genre of post punk. It is associated with characteristically "gothic" tastes in music and clothing. Styles of dress range from death rock, punk, Victorian, androgyny, some Renaissance style clothes, a combination of the above, and/or lots of black attire, and makeup. Goth is sometimes mistaken by outsiders for Emo, a different subculture.

Some of the stereotypical fashion trends associated with emo include the wearing of tight jeans, males wearing pants tailored for females, black clothing, All-Stars shoes, used T-shirts with random prints, and dyeing their hair in unatural dark hues. Dark make-up is also popular with females, but males may sometimes use it, too. Piercings and tattoos are also popular, especially lip and labret piercings.

...

While use of the term "emo" to describe the dress and attitudes of some fans of emo music, it should be noted that use of "emo" as a musical genre and "emo" as a slang term are largely separate. "Emo" as a musical genre long pre-dated the use of "emo" as a slang term, while most modern bands labelled "emo" are done so unwillingly, and largely because they share some of the fashion trends and attitude associated with "emo" as a slang term.

There is also a common myth that associates self harm with "emo". The link may stem from the association of negative emotions with the emo subculture.
