I don't know, from this point in you'll only see revisions and categorizations of Genres and Sub-Genres, considering anything I want to make will just go under "IDM", but it'll still be original in it's own sense.
Yeah, it really seems like all of the genres of music have been pretty well covered. I can't really think of a type of music that hasn't been classified or "Sub'd" in.
I'm waiting for a group of artists to take full advantage of all the possibilities of all these tracks in the studio. 80 track mixers and all this shit man..It's insane. SURROUND SOUND!. Record your instruments in the studio and then create PATHS (yes, paths on a linear graph" for each instrument and each speaker. Man.. Have violins pan in CIRCLES all over the place to make it feel like they're flying over your head...Wow. I can't wait to do that!!! I just can't fucking wait for all this cookie cutter shit to fade away. When are radio stations going to give up and be replaced with commercial free, user defined music on satellite or whatever? When is everyone going to control what we listen to? Fucking media.....I don't know about you guys but I really hate turning the radio on and hearing the same song I heard 10 minutes ago. Am I the only one out there who hates that?!? Yes, I understand it's a great song, but what about all the other songs out there that noone has really heard? There is so much music that is out there..Like Garage band and stuff, music made in our garages and the like..When is the "being in right place at the right time" thing talk about making it into the music buisness going to fade away and enable music to be easily discovered and listened to anyone who is willing to hear?
I'm not too sure about genres that havn't been invented. It's like that guy in the patent buisness in the late 1800s who claimed that everything has been invented.
I think something will branch off of Indie Rock. Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs..something with really intense electronics.
I know one thing for sure; There is going to be a band out there that totally takes advantage of 5.1 surround sound, digital audio editing, a 92,873,498,234 track mixer and all that stuff! Everything...completely mixing it up. Having all kinds of different styles into their music; fully utilizing the capabilities of everything that can be achieved in the studio nowadays..Plug Ins, VSTs, I mean...everything. Some band is going to totally kick our asses with so many elements and instruments into one song that we are going to be totally blown away. .....Do I talk too much?
