The Art Portal has some big updates coming and some of you might enjoy preparing something to have ready when the launch happens (launch date to be announced, or it might be a surprise).
In particular, the Art Portal will support true multi-image and allow for multi-author. This opens up the potential for all sorts of art collabs or individual multi-art projects.
When uploading multiple images, you will have three display options to choose from:
Inline - This will stack your images vertically, with space between them.
Strip - This will stack your images vertically, with no space between them. Ideal for vertical comics where seamless transitions between images is preferred.
Gallery - This will display your images one at a time in a slideshow format, ideal for large image sets or comics where you prefer turning the page to get to the next panel.
Multi-image will support up to 10 images for regular accounts and up to 30 for Supporters.
As far as collaborative projects, here are two examples that could make use of the multi-author credits:
With multi-image, you could try things like making a multi-panel comic where each panel is by a different artist. Or create a vertical stack of images based on a common theme, like a skyscraper or a hole that goes deep underground.
This system will also be more ideal for image variants and it will be expected that variants share the same project as the original image. Currently people tend to publish variants as multiple standalone pieces to maintain full resolution; that won’t be necessary anymore. You will also have the option to rate (E,T,M,A) the individual pieces in your project, otherwise they will default to the project-level rating.
Hope everyone enjoys the update when it arrives, it's been a long time coming!
