We've had an uptick in PM spammers these past few days. If you receive something like an offer to have sexy chat or something claiming to be a prize from NG, know that it's a scam and you shouldn't engage with it.
You don't need to PM me and you don't need to make a forum thread about it; simply click the flag button in the PM and it will send a copy to us so we can delete the account.

Oh thank god, i feared that muting, reporting and then deleting the mail was kind of counter intiutive
i wanna add however is the fact that I usually recieved the spam email after i sent a message to somebody, if it can help.

I doubt that would do anything good, as it would most likely either
a) Ineffective and everything gets through
or
b) False positives and non-spam getting auto-detected as spam
It's best handled on an account-by-account basis or if the IPs doing this are all coming from the same area, then that block of IP addresses. (Though it should be noted IP addresses can and do change and blocks on them can be worked around and sometimes blocks on ranges of IP addresses may inadvertently block legitimate but innocent users)

If I remember right Newgrounds does use a service or participates in a service to block spam sign ups and they can report back new spammers to the database so all subscribers will be protected. But you know the internet is always an arms race between spam and spam filters

I think the spammer or spammers are using the forum user list as a way to target active people so I don't think it is actually a coincidence.

I glad you address it, though it can be ineffective later on.
We already got two types of scams in the last day pr so and already send across active users (that like 500-1,000 or more each scam message being sent) and I can predict there going be another one.

I just thought of something. Why not add an option that blocks PMs fom newly registered users and users with no activity (reviews, posts, etc.)? This could be an option for portal submissions too.
