I saw it on several classmates' screens in '98/'99. Played a few Assassin games and then moved on.
In 2002, after being bored with porn, a certain Flash movie brought me back here and then I eventually signed up that same year.
A truly prophetic sig...

Started actively going to internet cafes about 2002-03. First thing I'd type would usually be "java games" or "sfdt." I didn't know the animations were done in Flash at the time.
In one of my net cafe sessions, I came across the word "Flash"
Next few sessions, started searching for "Flash games" in search engines. I don't know when the exact year was but I came across Newgrounds one day and liked the design. Found myself revisiting it every now and then.
Last time I was really visiting NG was back in '07 - '08. Only went back now since it was suggested as a place to share your content
Really cool story MPPlant. I always regret that I wasn't able to be in the late 90's and get the feeling of the moment when internet started to be more and more popular and open to the casual people. Those big CRT monitors, LAN partys, ehh I guess it has this specific feeling and climate, magic back then that I won't feel now.

It's true.
The place that I recently moved to is full of (mostly) old people.
Did anyone notice I was gone for like a week?

By the way "SFDT" was "Stick Figure Death Theater". It was a site I used to visit before discovering Newgrounds and last I checked doesn't exist anymore. It was mostly stick figure fighting videos like the Xiao Xiao series.
So you can imagine NG was a step up for me with full color animations.
I also was fascinated by the Xiao Xiao series.
Stick animations were a great introduction into Flash, even though many "serious" animators look at the stick genre with disdain now.
Stick is the punk rock of animation, really.

I don't know, i just found this website a long time ago, i didn't know there was something except Flash games :D ( I was once in the game Portal, that's all)
And then (2016) i found this website again and made an account.

I remember watching Xiao Xiao ack in the days. I also think that Stickman animations played a big role in Flash and digital animation in general

Do you know more or less when you found it for the first time?

I've never heard about SFDT, sad that it doesn't exist anymore. I see by using "Wayback machine" that the last thing wrote on thier site says "We'll be back shortly."

Discovered this in around 2005/2006 when I was like 5/6 years old for the flash games and now I'm here because I enjoy the community and I want to use it as inspiration and as a stepping stone on my animation career

Oh, hah pretty similar story as main, if not the same but putted in different words!

Speed up few years forward and I remembered Newgrounds and I also knew english now so I started using it. I, at first, didn't sign up because I didn't create content and I didn't use newgrounds so much so after one year, when I started using Newgrounds more, I created account and I have this account for one year. There were also a few mini stories but i don't want to tell them because I wrote enough already.
Its interesting how many of us here searched for stick figure animations like Xiao xiao or simple flash games as a kids and now we are here where most of them came from. I would want to hear more of your storys so feel free to share 'em
I found Newgounds back in 2010 when I first discovered Egoraptor's animations. But I was a 10 year old kid who solely used art sites and youtube, so in comparison I thought this place was too scary to join.
Fast forward to mid-2014. I've been using Deviantart for years and I start to realize that I don't actually like being there. So I went around looking for better alternatives to Deviantart, remembered that Newgrounds existed, and signed up with a really dumb username and ended up letting it sit because NSFW made me uncomfortable. I came back a few months later in early 2015 and made a second account so that I wouldn't have to run around with a dumb username on my shoulder.
So I'm basically here because I wanted to branch out from Deviantart and find a better community, and found myself rediscovering this place with that in mind.
Making flip books in 3rd grade led to Pivot animation led to an interest in games and animations in general. I took a summer course in animation, uploaded something here (which got blammed) and I've been poking around on this site ever since.

I liked pixel art & sprite flashes, and all the forums dedicated to such things all kicked me out for being bad at them.
I meant to learn how to animate and make decent pixel art but I... uh... sort of got distracted.
I actually firstly used internet when i was four to watch pucca. It was show that was airing on novatv(it's croatian chanell) and i liked it as a kid. I actually started to use internet more often because of that. I started playing more flash games. Mostly on shitty site called igrice123(games123), friv and some other site that i can't remember name to. I found a lot of more sites to play games on but I didn't remember their name so good because i did not know english(I'm from Croatia). I watched stickfights on some site that i do not remember name to but it wasn't on any language. That's why I remembered that site but not for long. I stoped using thise game sites and started to be little more on youtube because i was 7 and i knew some words on english so I remembered youtube. youtubers. It was so slow because i did not have drawing tablet. I gave up on animation in beggining of 2017. It was too much for me. I created newgrounds account because there was a draw with jazza contest where you couldve won drawing tablet so I created account for that. I was still named on youtube BFFcraft so I named my account too.
When I started using youtube "funny cats" and "funny dogs" were to only phrases that I wrote when I was like 6 years old. The story with sheep was adorable, and ITs amazing that you still use BFFcraft as your nickname here. Sorry to hear about all does crazy, bad moments you had in the past but thanks for sharing this story in here, its really detailed

Do you think going from Deviantart to Newgrounds was a great idea? I 've seen Egoraptor's few animations as well when I was a little but I watched more of FatCat's and DuDul's videos. Im so curious to know your first nickname and why did you picked it, or was it just a random thought?

Ohhh Piot animations. I remember there was a software for that and I made one 15 seconds long animaiton.. and got bored of it. I mean, I was a child so what to expect.
and I've been poking around on this site ever since.
Newgrounds Is like a black hole. If you got it you wont get out

Thats just a one shitty thing to do. kicking out someone from the site just because he/she was bad at it. So its your first account? 2008 was also pretty long time ago

that is how i discovered it
Oh man, I remember robot wars, I think there was once come back of it in the past but never heard of it ever since, probably didn't do well. Do you have any other storys 'bout newgrounds?
I started using NG at around 2012-ish, I used the site for only games and animation.
I only made an account this year though, I have no idea why I decided now would be the best time to make one but I did.
Found newgrounds back in 2008 (or was it my brother who did? either ways, it doesn't matter now) when I was a 10 year old kid who solely used random flash game sites (no, internet was too slow for youtube and art sites) by some stroke of luck. Found out I could submit flash and got to shitposting on the portal quickly.

It was one the best things I did. Deviantart is a nightmare so for many reasons, it's staff being a main thing. It's heavily understaffed, so at this point it's mainly being run by bots which causes a lot of issues. The community there is the second reason. Basically, it's like a melting pot of all the different art websites around so you get a LOT of childish people (and just kids in general) who refuse to take any criticism and actually take it as 'harassment' for some reason. And I mean actual in-depth paragraphs that give both the good and the bad type of critiques. 0: I still post art there, but I'm not nearly as active as I was.
I used to watch those guys too, but I found out about them much later than the others. I also watched UkinoJoe and KawaiiPiranha (not sure if I spelt that right) a lot at that time since bright colours and screaming was comedy gold to me as a kid. o:

During my first years as a gamer, I always played Flash Games. At some point I got tired of Miniclip, and wanted to try something new, so I found Newgrounds in a game that was being sponsored by the page I was using. This account is relatively new, but my first account are from 2007 - 2008.
Since then, I've liked this site, and always wanted to collaborate with community project, and yesterday I got engaged in one. So I guess this I started the real part of being a newgrounds user.
I guess I just found a couple of videos on the web that led to here, I got interested and bam. Account created
