digging the pose yo! I also really like the character's posture while carrying that axe. It makes it look convincingly heavy

Hey guys and gals! Finally done with finals and can get to work on this COTM, however I am at a bit of a road block in my ideas. I have four that I really would like to do and I can't decide on which one so I was wondering what you guys might think of these ideas. I have little thumbs nails, but the photos aren't coming out well so and what is more important to me right now is the narrative I am trying to tell. So here are the four:

1) A Solo Warrior the Savior of Thousands: focuses on a hero fighting (and dying) to protect a space port in a city that has fallen under siege. Takes heavy influence from Warhammer 40K with a group of Orcz in the front facing down marines as the hero leeps forth from the ranks axes in hands. Would have dropships in the back ground and the city a flame, as light shines down upon the soon to be fallen son of Ja... I am mean Sigmar >.>

2) Charnius's Gift to Rayiless: works off of original characters I have been creating for another setting. More of a traditional piece of a technogod gifting a scared weapon to their chosen champion. Focuses on the hero and the god alone and would have a lot of light and detail into the imaginary and overall feel of the piece.

3) Scorches in the Ruins: takes the axe and places it in the hands of a sand rat, a group of pirates that take place in an apocalyptic setting on earth. As he faces down a group of alien creatures that have ruined the world and turned it into the great seas of sand.

4) The Axe of the Mad King Hyperion: plays with the idea of a legend, instead of the axe being blessed or something good it is cursed. Granting the wielder great strength, as it fuses with the owner through the cables, it will slowly drive them made. Focuses on a scene where the axe floats on a pedistool bathed in blue light, as the room is more ambient red. Pictures on the walls are showing the King Hyperion as the hero to a villain, with a few dead bodies laying against the walls. The main focus though is one an older man reaching up to the axe, laying against the stand, blood on his hand and tears in his eyes as his son stands behind him. A knife loosely hanging from his hand, blood stained, as he stares at the eye pained, longing, and conflicted driven by something he can't understand. As the scenery of the room reflects inverted in his eyes a red axe, with a blue room. The story focuses on a group of archaeologists uncovering the axe, seeing it has a good omen as it has been lost for centuries and what better way to celebrate his son's birthday then by finding this great object.

So what do you guys think? I can't decide as I am working through them and hoping to draw the final line work this week and then digitize it.

Just the sketch!

Aargh!
I do have a really good story in mind, but i picture it being quite long, argh!
And a single image will be too short :(

A quick sketch of my idea:

My thought was to have the weapon split between two enemies, and have them fighting for the other half.
I haven't decided what the right persons legs should be, but I know they'll be robotic, so I left them with a place holder.

Hey @razvanc-r ,

I like it, altough i really liked the last one, but this one is really soft on the eyes. I wonder how it would look with some rocks the edge of the cave in te very near foreground, Maybe if you place it right it could help guide the eyes even more? it's just an idea thoug, don't really know a lot about it

Ps. i used your advise and this is how far i've gotten, better?

thanks anyway!

Started my piece for the challenge today! I really like the concept I have in my head, but putting it into art is so much harder than I realized it would be. I'm not used to doing pieces with complex backgrounds. Any advice and criticism is greatly appreciated! :) Also, this is my first time entering the challenge of the month. Should I enter the beginner or the open category?

I think you defiantly need de-saturated bright blue metal to compliment the axe's "power circles" and maybe follow it up with really shiny aluminum like grey metal.
