Has anyone else noticed how that site gets progressively shittier with each passing day? I'm not bothered by the so called "politically correct" content on their, or the overly political stuff in general. I mean, I kind of am, but let me explain why. Cracked bills itself as being "America's Only Humor Site." The problem is, how can you call yourself not only A humor site but the ONLY humor site based in the United States if everything you post is taken so god damned seriously?

The articles they write are only getting worse and they're becoming increasingly more inaccurate as well. For example, in a reason article the author called Mickey Mouse, Mario, and Sonic the Hedgehog racist because they wear white gloves. Their reasoning? White gloves were worn in minstrel shows, therefore white gloves = racism. Nevermind that all 3 of those characters wore white gloves due to technical limitations at the time (Mickey, being invented in the 1920's when everything in film was monochrome picture and Mario and Sonic were given white gloves to distinguish the fact they had hands at all in the sprite era of gaming).

I mean, what the hell is wrong with our culture when everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, has to be taken so fucking seriously to the point even a once great humor magazine has taken to being the most overly serious website on the entire internet?

I guess all the decent writers who use to work there must have cracked under the pressure

What the fuck.

It didn't always used to be a site with overly serious top 5 (or, top whatever) lists. It was once a magazine, similar to Mad Magazine. In its earliest days as a website it was pretty decent as well. But it's just gone downhill.

I don't think they're doing too well from the business side. I've noticed a lot of the columnists putting out their Jezebel spec columns up.

They used to have funny and interesting articles. It's not only silly PC stuff now, it's also often like clickbait junk (and the titles are always just like clickbait junk whether the content is or not which they change over and over to have less to do with it). I read that article about how gloves and zombies are racist a few days ago and yeah, "wtf happened to Cracked" crossed my mind... again. Also Auntiememe. Those entries need to be labeled as such instead of "Cracked readers". The videos can be pretty shit, too, like this one where a redhead woman just points out stuff in cartoons that's different from real life, like nawww shit no way.

They still have After Hours and Escort Mission, which are both fun to watch, and they have the podcast, which is good when it's Swaim, Dan and Soren, and I dunno if Katie's ever doing it again but she's good (Cody and Alex are alright too). All of those suffer from the same retarded Buzzfeed sounding title problem, but that's all. I never listen to the podcast when none of those people are on, though. I don't care about Jack. Also, ATB seems like a dumbass.

Oh, and sometimes the photoplasties are okay but it's a lot of stock pictures covered in text now instead of photoshops and sometimes the text is bullshit, no shit, or dumb shit. The trend had started out of sharing actually somewhat interesting facts (cited ones). Did I mention Auntiememe? Bleh.

It's not that I don't agree with most of what you wrote, or whatever, because I agree with it, but there are 3 words you used that really stick out.

Yes, Cracked has become awful at this. It's ironic because sometimes their authors also complain about it.

photoplasties

These can be really good, but they're user driven content. Well, usually....

Auntiememe

And when they aren't this is the reason. Auntimeme is completely stupid. Those photoplasties lack any charm whatsoever.

My guess is whenever a site or anything that appears 'objective' and popular for a long time, a bunch of 'passionate' activists will want to start contributing to that publication. They'll pass off their opinions as fact.

I miss when Seanbaby wrote articles on there. Yeah. Most of it is just the same recycled pop culture crap of "Why this is racist" or Blank insane Blank blank. I've noticed that more than their fair share of articles contain the word "Insane" I don't get why.

Hadn't gone to their website in forever, remember it was already shitty when i left, in fact a SJW article making fun of men for domestic abuse was why i left. It's nice to see they've only gone downhill since.

I almost agree with this, it's been steadily declining for years but more recently there's been a tangible turn in the type of content they associate with.

I think part of it must be that they're actively trying to annoy people. Outrage tends to get the most clicks so they may as well generate their own, as evidenced by the nonsensical titles constantly being cycled. Just checking the site now I ended up clicking an article on video game writing (6 Things You Learn Writing Blockbuster video Games) because it seemed interesting, the address bar shows that the title originally included the phrase "no trans characters" despite trans never even being mentioned in the article. They must be really desperately trying to milk the views, the make an article that will attract people interested in video games, then clickbait-ify the title with some political nonsense even if it's thoroughly irrelevant.

I don't see any positive comments on these articles either, more often or not they're tearing it apart. Cracked used to be one of my favourite sites but over the last year or more I've barely checked it at all, and when I do I go right to the comments since that's where the actual jokes are, at Cracked's own expense.

In all honesty, I rarely thought that Cracked articles was all that funny or informative at all even before they got all on their SJW high horse and smart-ass drivel. Going through some of their articles, (especially with video games) it's almost like they treat the viewer either as a total cretin or point out the usual SJW bullshit that is only a big deal because they and a bunch of simpletons think so.

When you have to rely on clickbait arguments and throw terms around like racism when there really isn't any, it shows that you really are either desperate for attention, pushing some sort of agenda that only idiots agree with, or in Cracked's case, both. In either case, I lost any and all respect I had for that publication, however small it was.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

It's routine for me to read their articles as a daily thing, but it's getting really hard to actually feel intrigued enough to read an entire article.

And the fact they repost a bunch of old articles on Facebook constantly kind of wears me down...

Cracked is not the only humour site there is in America. There are a lot of others which are faaaaaar better. Even satirical humour from The Onion is a lot better than that drivel that Cracked is spewing.

If Cracked rebranded themselves as satire, it'd probably work a lot better. The trouble starts when people look for humour to be enjoyed across the board, and find nothing funny at all anymore. I think people need to mass complain.

I used to read their articles as a quick break in between classes, but as time went on, their writing got more and more pretentious and bullshitty, and I just stopped altogether in about 2012.

I believe @PoxPower wrote something along the lines of cracked being like the onion but for complete idiots on his website.
