Better go for the manga on this one. The anime only covered the first 20-22 chapters of the manga, which isn't even half of the entire story. The anime flopped in Japan and was released to the U.S. as a bargain bin product; while it got plenty of support in the States, it didn't revive the anime, and the idea of doing a Kickstarter or other push to revive it never got any significant interest.

anime is garbage in the same way western shows are garbage. the difference is, anime seems to get away with frequently being much more taboo and often gritty if you know where you're looking. saying all anime is trash is like saying western shows are entirely trash because my little pony exists. where you have your lucky stars and bleach and whatever else- there's also shows that have some balls, too. you just gotta know what you're looking for.
