The oddest thing about liking anime for me is that I develop a tolerance for things that I would normally not give a shit about in any other medium, probably either due to the cultural differences or the fact that a lot of said things happen to pretty entertaining as well. {the good ones at least} Even things that would be viewed as objectionable or controversial {moe, ecchi, etc.} in the anime community I usually just brush aside, and don't really understand why people hate them so much, as if they have anything to say on what anime producers in Japan make.

That doesn't mean that I don't despise certain anime and anime studios, either because of the history of shoddy work or being all style and no substance, Studio Gainax is the worst offender of both, and I honestly despise them because of their lack of quality control and their and their fans arrogance. While NGE was highly influential and Gurren Laggan is absolutely one of my favorite anime series, a lot of their other work is basically mediocre at best, and rancid at worst. No surprise why a lot of them left the crackhouse of a studio in Gainax and formed Trigger, and Anno leaving Gainax after he got over his depression to form Khara.

Nadia was honestly boring, and the Nadia herself is an absolutely unlikeable bitch.
Panty and Stocking is nothing more than F-bombs and pop culture jokes, which is fine if it weren't for the fact that Black Lagoon did just that far better and it wasn't the only thing that held it up.
F*** {I refuse to give this abomination of an anime its proper name} is just them showing off their worst traits of design and storyline, and has no clear identity on what it really wanted to be other than a hot mess. The fact that it remains popular in the west today is frankly flabbergasting, and not in a good way.

Just the fanservice really. Everything else is enjoyable in it's own way. We can leave the fanservice to the hentai.

-Fanservice involving children.
-Super strong male characters are scared stiff by much scrawnier but more abrasive female characters.
-Filler, especially an entire arc in the middle of a kickass fight, BLEACH!!!
-Male character gets in an awkward situation around women, assumptions are made and built upon, guy gets beat up (Love Hina).
-Anime where the main cast is (mostly) attractive and everyone else in the world is gut-wrenchingly hideous.

Ichigo, Jidanbo, Urahara, yes. What always amazes me about these is that it always makes sure to show, at some point, someone with cut friggin' rippling muscles to indicate strength, but then the biggest dude with the biggest muscles can't move some wiry little guy an inch.

Feedback can be a good and a bad thing in this regard. The mangaka can learn what characters and what aspects thereof people relate to and like, but it can also end up with some pressures from the publisher to pander to really obnoxious fans who have terrible taste.

I find this thread oddly soothing.

It's kind of hard to say. I can't really do plot holes, because most works have those. In terms of things that are specific to anime, maybe bug eyes? Then again, western cartoons have it. In fact, anime was heavily influenced by Donald Duck comics with the large eyes. I'm serious, look it up!

When both characters that are ready to fight and then begin talking to each other for 20 minutes and have constant flashbacks. THEY ARE LITERALLY STANDING THERE TALKING FOREVER AND REMINISCING ABOUT THE PAST! Just fucking fight already.

I hate how the hero of anime is always a 2-dimensional bleeding heart bringer of justice who helps people because helping people is the right thing to do. I want to see a hero who's reluctant about mowing down those faceless henchmen.

I hate when a character spends ages training, then the baddie shrugs off his newfound power like it was nothing at all. It doesn't show how high the stakes truly are. It just makes the character's training arc look like a waste of everybody's time.

I hate when the antagonist beats the hero to an inch of his life, but then he lets him live because he thinks finishing him off would be a waste of his energy.

I hate when the only discernible difference between characters is their hair and clothing.

I hated how Dragonball Z was always about Goku, and when Goku wasn't around, everybody was standing there waiting for him to get there. I would have loved if Tien's neo Tri beam actually killed Cell. It would have been a great ending if Mystic Gohan smashed Buu to oblivion. You don't know how pissed I was in Wrath of the Dragon when Goku pushed Trunks out of the way to get the final hit on Hirudegarn.

It's not really xenophobic, it's just acknowledging that you're not intimate enough with an alien tongue to easily process those associations. There's a difference between people who say "[race] all looks the same!" and "I have a hard time telling people of [race] apart"; the latter is neither racism nor xenophobia, it's simply a lack of familiarity.

I also hate it when creators don't have the balls to kill off main characters, even for an episode! *cough*Naruto*cough* In my favorite anime Guyver the main character dies tragically but the Guyver armor resurrects him in the last episode of the first season.

Well while all three of these seem rather to fall into the first category, in the second category Dragonball's Son Goku, Rurouni Kenshin's Himura Kenshin and Trigun's Vash the Stampede all seem to fit the bill. Meanwhile you get ones with a bit more ambiguity about the first one, like Fist of the North Star's Kenshiro, One Piece's Monkey D. Luffy, or Hellsing's Alucard, but don't seem to have much problem with wiping out hordes of enemies.

Piccolo and Vegeta were both rationed about one token victory per powerup. Everyone else got a much worse deal.

Goku has managed to make stealing the limelight from BEYOND THE GRAVE a frequent occurrence. (the Saiyans, Perfect Cell, AND Buu)

There have only been a couple English dubs I really liked. Samurai Champloo is one of them.
