Like, how old do you have to be to no longer be considered a young adult, and just be an adult, or a middle-aged person?
What is the accepted standard nowadays?
A truly prophetic sig...

A lot of people think 18 or 20, but I think that's bullshit.
Being an adult depends on your maturity. Age, contrary to popular belief, can not be a tool used to measure maturity.

Do you see this guy?
Do you?
DO YOU!?
This guy...
This guy gets it.

My dad says you aren't an adult until you're off your parents' health insurance and you have your own.
Ive met adults as smart as kids, and kids as smart as adults. that said the brain fully develops at like 25ish? but still it depends on the person.

Indeed.
I second his notions.

Dunno about that. If that was the case, my parents and/or grandparents would probably still be considered young adults lol.

This ^ I can't tell you how many times people have mistaken my age or judged me based on age.

I don't think you read my thread right...
I asked at what age do you STOP being a young adult; not what age you become one.
Anyway, I tend to think 30 is the age when you stop being considered young. But then again, some 30somethings I've seen at meetups don't act very mature either.

Either way, the principle remains the same.

I always thought teens were young adults because the term sounds less juvenile. So....20? 20 is when you're no longer a young adult?

I guess in the US it would be 25 because then you can finally legally rent a car.

Might be putting too much emphasis on the adult and not enough on the young.
young

This.
I'd say you're an young adult between the age 20-30. All of course which varies from person to person and their respective level of maturity. But I'd once you reach the age of 30 you should no longer be seen as a young adult neither by yourself or others. Since you've legally been an adult for 12 years (at least in Sweden) and should have grasped the whole being an actual adult thing.

Eh, young adult, around 20, middle-aged, around 30? I'd say it depends more on the person than their age though.

But you are the one feeding the troll.
You will always be a young adult, transferring over to man-child at 35, unless proven otherwise by your actions demonstrating your independence and work ethic.

Young Adult: Age 18 or 19. It depends. Some people begin acting more maturely at age 18 while others need to feel silly around their peers for a whole year before they mature a bit out of self-preservation.
Adult: Around age 25. That's the age when most people start to settle down, buy a house, have devil spawn (children), and work towards some sort of career or goal.
Middle Age: Occurs immediately at age 40. You suddenly become really lame and "un-groovy'. Kids begin playing on your lawn, much to your dismay, and every hair falls off of your head at once.
Old: Age 65. You begin visiting the same eating establishment every morning for breakfast. Any small change in your usual order (eg. putting the bacon on the wrong side of the eggs) will cause you to go on a tirade about how the youth of today has no respect for their elders.
Is it necessary to put a number on everything? It's probably the age where you realize you're neither a smart person nor invincible.
I like to think of myself as a young adult still. Since I haven't exactly gotten anything like careers or a lasting job going yet, so still pretty much at the stage of finding out what I want to / am able to do~
until they are able to make their own decisions and base their actions over all of the consequences they can think of.

If it would be like that, I would be on my 30s.
It's like you guys think that as you get older your personality will suddenly change
Maturity is a result of the bitterness of having to earn everything you own and having a maximum of 5 friends.
Only then....will you truly be...an adult.
